Honored Legates, members of the War Council,

My bellows last night provided the most concise explanation of the situation, but to summarize briefly-- Legion scout have been working to divert and distract the movements of the orc in the south in the past week or so. Intelligence reached me that an opportunity to reduce the number of orc pouring into this region had arrived, and so I was tasked with finding a team of individuals to sabotage a particular bridge some fifteen miles south of the Lover's Gap. These individuals were:

Mark Miller
Zuli the Shadow
Meadow Millwright of the Sagebrush
Pang of the Sagebrush

with myself acting as field leader. We infiltrated a camp of roughly a thousand orc at nightfall, coinciding with the changing of the guard. Unproven, Cohorts, Smiths and Legates were witnessed in merry-making, training or keeping a watch upon the main bridge, which was wide enough to accommodate their war machines, entirely barricaded off. We made use of a smaller, secondary bridge to deliver explosives to both ends of the bridge. We lingered long enough to see the bridge tumble into the crevasse before fleeing for our lives, as the camp roared to life. Pursuit was fierce, but broke off by the time we reached the gates of the Citadel.

Early reports are promising. It will take weeks for the orcs to repair this bridge, and that provides us with enough time to prepare a welcome for them.

We can expect to see an increased number of orc patrolling the Lover's Gap for the next few days, searching for the ones responsible. Heads to claim, to lay before their Legates that may alleviate their failures. Travellers in that area will need to take caution.

As a final note-- the nature of this operation and the specific talents required made discretion necessary. A single slip, a wrong step, a trap tripped, and some or all of us would have paid with our lives. The operation came together in roughly three days time. If you were not informed prior, do not take it as an insult. Take it as a sign of how little time there was to spare.
