Dear Alejandro,

Your song of Atreus Loukanis was excellent, well written and well performed.
You have my appreciation. I would like to re-hire you again and write more about Atreus.

So that we may challenge the fame of Citadel's most noteworthy FAKE warrior "Velan".

Let me know if this campaigning interests you!

Dear s. Brundon,

A poet is always short on coin - moreso as he tries to save for a Voice! Thats to say: I cannot say no to new work, much less form such a great-paying client.

That said, I prefer not to write mean rhymes. So while I'm happy to write something good about s. Atreus, I wouldn't be so eager to write something bad about s. Velan.  I /could/ extoll some manner of epic rivalry, if you'd like, between two grand warriors, driving each other to ever greater displays of power. Or I could just write more about s. Atreus!

Hope that's ok!

Yours,

Alejandro Benjazar

Alejandro,

The two men don't know each other. It'd be strange and suprising to them both if such a poem was constructed and performed.
Nay, I simply meant to say that I wish for Atreus Loukanis to outfame Velan.

Thus I hereby ask that you conjure yet another performance about Atreus Loukanis his exploits.
Make it in the realm of epic fantasy! Let people know just how absolutely stunningly brilliant the swordsmanship of my comrade is.
And how endless his courage and bravery!

I will pay you ... I don't know. Four hundred dinar.

Hello Alejandro,

I'm sorry your friend is dead.

Now to something that matters, could you write the Atreus Loukanis song to be about his inevitable victory at the Sultan's Tournament?
I demand it is performed at the event itself. Have all the spectators hear it! About how Atreus Loukanis will win it all!

You keep playing it, even if he's long dead.

You were already paid your 400 dinar so there's no refusing.

With kind regards,

Brudron Wolfscorn

[The brow of the normally cheerful Alejandro furrows at this letter. He pens an answer, lacking in his usual enthusiasm and exclamation marks.]

Dear s. Brudon,

I'd be happy to sing Atreus's song at the Tournament, and to write it.  However, you shoud be aware of a few things:

The first: it may be that no singer is allowed to perform at the Tournament itself. Or that the Tournament takes place at a time I cannot, physically, assist. I simply do not know, so I cannot promise a performance. If I am there and it is possible, I will do it happily.

The second: that 400 dinari does not entitle to the writing of a song and endless performances, because I am a busy man. You yourself are a businessman, so no doubt you know the value of time and dinari. I am a good professional (probably among the most reliable in the Well), so I can't sell all my future appearances so cheaply. For performances once a week in perpetuity I'd probably ask at least 5 thousand dinari, just so you have an order of magnitude as to what allows certain demands.

Should either of these points disatisfy you, please feel free to find me and I shall return your payment.

Yours,

Alejandro

Alejandro,

Fair enough.

Get writing and perform it, only once, before the tournament.

I'll pay whatever sum you want within the boundries of being reasonable.

Expect you'll be hired again after this.

Dear s. Brudon,

Thank you for understanding. I do not mind to perform it a couple times before the tournament (or even at. It'd be a pleasure to perform at such an event). But expectations must be managed, lest you be dissapointed.

I shall ensure another song that extolls his virtues and presents his inevitable win for the League of Purple.

Respectfull,

Alejandro Benjazar
