The Blackjacks

The King's Militia, most often called the "Blackjacks," are in theory the guards and soldiers of Ring 99. What they lack in pay, equipment and respect, they more than makeup for with incompetence and low corruption, leaving them ill-suited to handle even the petty crimes they're supposed to be policing.

Recommended Alignment: Neutral (But any will work)
Recommended Class: Fighter, Barbarian, Rogue
Recommended Race: Any (no monstrous creatures)

Current Setting: The Peerage Ward is now in open rebellion to the Usurper Count.  The Count loving "Redjacks" have been thrown out and the old "Blackjacks" have returned.  Recently, a beloved Mayor of Little Ticker (Tolinar Mistbourne) was killed by a Peerage retainer(s). The result was mass riots and destruction of Little Ticker.  In the aftermath, House Velstra has been vocal and forthright attempting to fill the void left by House Glitt.  They even offered up two elven retainers as a means to establish trust?  Blackjacks currently flood the streets as a show of force (and perhaps opportunities to make a few groat). 

The King's Militia lack respect and recognition from anyone.  They have a long history of corruption, abuses of power, and incompetence.  Yet, they have a number of Blackjacks who still wear the unform.  Why?

For anyone wanting to play a City Watch type of character that is Peerage focused, now is an excellent time.  You can expect to be actively involved in Peerage politics, PvP, and most likely will die in a gutter.  However, it will be the most exciting of stories to tell.  If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on Discord (#Domare).  We currently have two active players.  Got room for a lot more.  Some ideas to inspire other ideas could be:

• You grew up in Little Ticker or the Steading.  You have seen firsthand the threats posed to those you love.  You finally decided to do something about it.
• You are poor without any opportunities. Perhaps being one of those Blackjacks will provide you just what you need to make sure you sleep on clean sheets, drink cold ale, and get the attention of the ladies?
• You are a religious sort.  You have taken vows of poverty and service.  What better way to fulfill your vow, then to do the awful work of a Blackjack?
• Back in your day, you were a Mercenary of fecking legend.  That was until you suffered a critical injury.  You now hobble around the Peerage in a Blackjack uniform.  At least you get paid for doing nothing.
• You grew up a street urchin.  Collecting information and using that information to your benefit has kept you alive and paid.  This Blackjack gig is exactly what you need to keep it going.

A great time to start up a Watchman type character.  Perhaps you are a freedom fighter from Little Ticker?  Or, perhaps you are tired and flat broke ?  Just about any angle works as long as you include some manner of Peerage Politics in it.
