As it stands, this is the way the perk Maiden of Woe is worded:

Maiden of Woe
(female only) - Broken lips have long since  stopped uttering pleas and praise to silence. Now sorrow surround you  like a blanket against a dark world, a world in which misery has come  with company. The unjudged come at your call and beckon, seeking respite  before returning to a plane of a god unresponsive.

 Evil only.

Level 1: Negative Energy Ray (3) 5/day. Spirit summoning theme. Spirits are drawn to the sorceress (player tool toggle).
Level 5: 5/- DR Negative Energy. Absorb necromancy spells of level 2 and below. A larger number of spirits are drawn to the sorceress.
Level 8: A ghostly white aura circle the sorceress. 15%  Concealment. Upon death, hostile creatures nearby must succeed against a  fortitude save of DC 18 + Sorceress' charisma modifier or be cursed.  Stronger spirits flock to the sorceress.

This is not the case anymore. Kauvra's character and spirit-summoning ability was the result of a bug that was recently fixed, severely nerfing the perk and allowing for little perk progression.

- Level 5: 5/- DR Negative Energy. Absorb necromancy spells of level 2 and below. A larger number of spirits are drawn to the sorceress.

This is misleading.
The vague wording makes it appear as if 5-7 spirits may be appearing at level 5. As a level 7 Maiden of Woe character, I am only capable of summoning a maximum of three at a time, summoning one spirit every 5-10 minutes. The spirits unsummon one by one before the fourth ever appears, which means that as stated I can only ever have three spirits summoned at once time.
It's difficult to argue with a genius. It's impossible to argue with an idiot.

Knight Of Pentacles

This is one of the last perks that needs any further improvements.

Instead of simply contradicting me, please offer insight or information as to why you believe this, thanks. I can't exactly argue a short-worded contradiction.

I thought it was obvious.  You get 15% concealment, /5 negative energy resistance, a number of free summons, and immunity to numerous necromancy spells.  Compared to many of the other sorcerer perks, it's rather strong.  Even if you don't ever use the spirits.

In KOP's defense, the lvl 8 gives from what ive seen.. 10-15 spirits for their dedicated times. Maybe the "greater spirits" should be changed to "greater, and even more"? If that is the case.

Mortui

I've seen a level 7 Maiden of Woe with nearly 20 spirits.
I'm not sure if it's a freak accident on either your or her part, but I have seen substantial amounts of spirits on one that isn't level 8 or higher.

put all knowledge of the original perk aside, the perk was nerfed very very recently and apparantly shes saying it is way too weak now on the spirit part. I believe that the perk is sufficiently strong with the other feats, HOWEVER, compared to the 20 spirits it is more like 3-5 now. Which is rather nice as it doesn't take any spellslots  to use them, they just instantly appear, with no downsides to the perk no penalties with the bonuses i think this perk is powerful enough. No other perk gives free repetitive summons like that, even when your out of spells you always have spirits, this perk needs no more power-upping

There was a bug fixed several days ago that caused players to have more spirits than they were meant to (read: 3+) at low levels. It may have caused the belief that you are meant to have a lot of spirits around you even at lower levels which is not the case.

As you gain levels you will be able to summon more and stronger spirits. Nothing wrong with the perk description there. An added bonus is that for drawing spirits, it will also take into account PrC levels.

What was fixed most recently, though, was an exploit. Unlike a bug, which is a mistake on our part, an exploit is an unintended function that allows a player to abuse the system set up for their own benefit. Naturally we do what we can to prevent it but sometimes some possibilities slip us by. We therefore rely on you to report if something seems too good to be true.

This perk is not going to see a buff anytime soon. It may have a slight more randomization into its spirit duration but that is the only slightly positive change I foresee happening at all.

As such I will lock this thread.
