It's actually really easy to get back to Ring 100 whenever you want. Even I know that.

::)
PM me for an apology! :3

Wow. What a condescending way of downtalking everyone that values their time.

"Yeah it's easy, just run through fifty loading screens. EVEN I KNOW THAT. *eyeroll* "

He's.. he's making a joke you can just die and respawn back..

Oh. My bad. Jokes like these are always hit or miss when there is no face to read.

Comes down to how people want to spend their time. Sometimes, the remoteness of the rings and knowing the time and effort invested in to it really makes it pay off when you crack a challenge or when you meet others deeper in.

I don't see any issue with people investing their time in to the Deeper Rings vs logging in to 99 and crushing quests and trying to solve everything with PvP. Different playstyles for different folks.

I'm not going to adress everything said in this thread, but the bottom line is this:

Ringrunning should generally feel like a commitment, an alliance or working together with PCs you have some relationship to . It is a bit disheartening to see PCs conveniently Ringrunning with people they should otherwise be at odds with putting that aside for the purpose of their advancement through the rings. It is important for PCs who are progressing through the Rings that there is meant to be a spirit of competition and Rivalry in reaching Ring 1. Having distinct groups that aren't always willing to work together or may even undermine each other will help keep things interesting - merging together to ensure everyone gets deeper into the Rings does not.

In short, don't treat Ringrunning like a MMORPG where you're just trying to level up your key count and things will be much more interesting for everyone. Even if that means you MIGHT not get as far as you would otherwise.

You and the PCs around yours should easily be able to answer why you are Ringrunning and why you are Ringrunning with them specifically.

There are things we as DMs can and should do to make Ringrunning better, but we need PCs to do their part in it too.

A small comment: The Stonebuilders have IC reasons to be ring running and its not to make a wish. Some factions will ring run for rp purposes and if you are involved in the story may find that it does make sense. I don't think it's right for someone else to tell me what I should/should not be doing with my character's story -especially if it fits in line with the story and plot of the faction I'm in.

That said I'm not opposed to some restrictions put in place. It does make sense for some factions that generally disfavor ring running such as all the rp Tane has been doing against Velastra for that reason. These are things that should be enforced by PCs or in extreme cases major faction npcs if it's warranted. If someone's abandoned their post -fire them.

I would NOT however be in favor of a blanket ban. Right now people are ring running for a reason. Ticker is dead for a reason. The more important thing to do is find out WHAT is that reason. Echo some elements of that reason to Ticker and 99 and you'll see improvement.

Changes that impact play styles should be done with encouragement, not with restriction. Provide more incentive to stick around in 99 and more people will. Right now the story isnt there. The metaplots that were driving players have been abandoned, shelved or postponed. The only current incentive to hang out in 99 is if you want to do pvp conflict between major factions.

Not everyone is wanting this. I personally am not. Not in this PC anyway I'm more interested in learning server lore and such -which only happend AFTER getting involved in the story-line of the Stonebuilders. At first I actually built Angvald pc TO be a conflict monkey and die fast. Plans changed.
