Monster despawn timer? Chalk?

This is an actual question, more than a suggestion. Might it be worth it to bring back the despawn timer?

- In favor:

It's really easy for certain characters to leave packs of hostile creatures (or one, very powerful creature) in an area. It is clearly not meant to be "griefing" but it is also impossible to leave behind a lasting warning sign or mark, short of carrying signs everywhere. The clean-up script, that I know, will remove any dropped parchment or note. And it's not always feasible to ping a DM for a clean-up.

Is it fun to transition into a blender? I know we have the "something dangerous ahead" script now, and it's a wonderful thing to have, but it's one thing to transition into a badger and another to transition into near instant death. This is especially true for at least one non-explorable area.

- Against:

Danger! Danger is fun. Danger is cool. Danger is dangerous. Persistent alchemy spawns led to some really interesting IG interactions, and it definitely makes exploration cautious business.

Perhaps it'd just be possible to add items like a piece of chalk? It'd be nice to be able to drop a destroyable/invisible object "mark" to emulate a scrawled warning.
