Permadeath scripted quests and make high level scripted quests harder!

I think scripted quests need to be tougher. I also am of the opinion that certain high level quests should be permadeath enforced with no chances of raise or ressurection. Succesfully raiding a lair of beholders, breaching an Imaskari citadel and slaying a lich has began to lose its prestige on EFU. Now we are having entire parties come back from having slain a dragon without a single casualty. I was in a little over 24 hour period able to get a wizard to level 8 by tagging on some high level quests. Its reached the point of absurdity that a tomb of ooze is more scary for a high level wizard than a lich's dungeon or a beholder lair or even a fortress full of hungry Orogs just because the monsters on those can't see past invisibility.  I think on such high level quests wizards shouldn't be able to to safely be invisible and heal their party.

I want to restore the prestige and the fear of going anywhere near a beholder. One radical idea I have is to make certain high level quests require a DM's presence to increase the difficulty and also increase the reward. This is one of the many problems of having a large number of high level PCS that somehow possess no bounties or reasonable IG enemies even though in previous chapters NPCS would have deliberately antagonized these PCS or even put bounties on them.  Things have gotten so absurd that when a wizard needed time to rest to prepare spells when facing a lich the party decided "Fuck this waiting shit we can do it!" in pen and paper DND such a move would be suicide and no one would have even suggested such a thing if a DM was present. But due to OOCLY knowing how some quests mechanically work it was decided!

I am saying we restore honor to deadly monsters and quests. I am saying that we end the gravy train of being able to easily milk XP and end the absurdity of wizards being glorified healers instead of actual wizarding. It'd make actual medic PCS be required/able to dodge and take hits. There are many who do not like this idea of cutting off their gravy train of easy loot and XP and i the DOC am saying it must be done. I have a feeling most of the server is going to disagree with this suggestion.

If you think that Three Fang Keep isn't dangerous or frightening for wizards, you're in for quite the awakening...

Unless these quests are going to be used in the future setting, dms should not waste their time..and stranger is right, orogs is probably the hardest quest out there.

It really needs better reward if anything..

I'm not sure I would say it's a matter of things needing to be tougher, I think people just have gotten pretty good at being able to realize when things are getting harder and they do their best to make sure that things don't go poorly.
I understand that the idea of the quests sound big and whatnot and it loses the shiny when it's able to be done multiple times, but it is also very, very easy for things to suddenly turn sideways as it is where there are sometimes multiple deaths.

In my opinion the quests have definitely grown stale.  Everyone knows OOC what quests to do to get what rewards.
I sort of agree to limit the high-level quests to DM oversight, but I also worry that would just limit everyone who is rocking.
I would be more for encouraging people to send DM messages when doing the harder quests.  Like: "we're about to do Orog Fort, would appreciate some oversight."
"So what else is on your mind besides 100 proof women, 90 proof whisky, and 14 karat gold?"
"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

"Maybe there's just one revolution.  The good guys against the bad guys.  The question is, who are the good guys?"

Remove miscellaneous items that have healing magic, done. Purple crystals are a crutch that break quests.

One idea I was thinking of was at the end of high level quests add an optional side quest that has the possibility for better loot but at the cost of being perma death. High risk high reward for people who want that. I think Vera had something similar where you had an optional boss fight for better stuff.

Another interesting one was adding solo arena explorables, like one person can enter and fight some big bad boy for cool loots but also its perma death.

if she's your girl then why does her leitmotif appear in my battle theme bro  :/

The quests are fine. The player base has just played a LONG time in a lot circumstances. As such we have figured out how to get good at NWN. Besides, the quests are a bit of fun to help you move forward as a character. EfU is still very dangerous and has plenty of chances to die.

If you personally want more of a challenge, play a less optimal build to your character and go have fun. I did that once or twice. It can be a lot of fun.
