This is a question that has been on my mind for a little bit now due to recent IC events. I can't seem to find an answer anywhere on the forums, though. Who is responsible for the finances for the Spellguard? Do they now handle their own money and pay to the Watchers or is it still drawn, to some degree, from the city's coffers?

When I asked this question IG I was told that they manage their own finances without further details given.

Could be they're trading in manufactured goods to other settlements, sit on a stockpile of fines from NPC Watcher/Citizen interactions, quietly mint their own coins.

Definitely something to try sleuth out IG with a DM and find out where all that coin comes from!

How much does a ring of Final Sanctuary cost? 10k. I don't know if this goes to the City, the Spellguard, or who.

I like to imagine the Workmill's animatronic labor isn't coming from thin air either.

Agent X001

10k per nobleman.

Surface scavenging.

Magical artifice and brewing.

The Final Sanctuary self contained economy.

Animatronic labor.

Services to the city such as the use of portals and water filtration.

They're incredibly wealthy to say the least...

this is the right of it. Final Sanctuary itself, with probably over 250-500 noblemen who all paid ten thousand gold to get into Final Sanctuary... It's a lot of gold.

You could imagine coin or trade coming from a wide variety of sources, especially since Sanctuary has been around for a it and most of the surrounding major NPC areas for millennia. Plus, gold is only one source of payment - and the underdark has always favored information, power, prestige, etc. Then you have your dead adventurer cash, dead monster cash, mines, taxes, and on and on. Sanctuary has at times been beleaguered but I think always able to procure funds or trade.

Seems that players answered this for me!

I"d like to add the Spellguard is a over 150 year old organisation. They have had plenty of time to create a great deal of wealth especially when one of their high salarly agents die with a great deal of gold in their account.

The end of chapter one saw the death and unaccounted gold for so many people including the last vestiges of the Sanctuary bank that its impossible the Spellguard didn't make a giant come up in wealth. With the takeover over the WAW it can be assumed the SG stood to gain even more wealth.
