Mason Fields.

I've gone ahead and put this character into retirement. He's not dead, but I don't believe I'll ever be playing him again. Or at least, not for a long, long time.

Mason was made for the OOC purposes of seeing the first Escape From Chapter through the point of view as a character, not through age old screenshots on the old board. His IC get-up, hunting the Chosen, was nothing but a form to compliment this OOC goal, as the Chosen were an enemy from the first Chapter that were plentiful and easy to hold a vendetta against, even if they weren't Residents of Sanctuary.

Lower Sanctuary and the Machine were the only places I could find that were mostly the first Chapter un-molested. With most PCs from that area dead, the backing on that front is gone, and that'd rely solely on DM support. I'd rather not take up their time to re-explain something that's already available to be read on the old forums.

Talir, Halfbrood and Sternhund were awesome on this front though. Thank you. :>


Alexei Antonov, Toigan Strongstrata, Thomas Mis-Born, Stephan Wonderbringer, Tiffiny Kurtfell, Shakti, Atto Proverson, Zsigmond, Ringol and Jebediah T. Firefly were primary characters that honed the character's story, and for that, mad props.

I never got the chance to play IG with Mason as much as I wanted to (TZ issues as usual) but I always wanted to get involved with his Chosen hunting. Nice one!

It was great having such a niche character as the go-to. When you need a doctor or scholar or whatever, there's a PC for that. When you need an utterly relentless slaughterer of lycanthropes, you went to Fields.

I recommend reconsidering.  Now's a great time to evolve your PC, or at the very least change him.  If you're going to retire him anyway, might as well live it up.  Your current goals don't really work, so change them.  Your support from Lower is gone, why is that?  I know OOC that Mason admired Alexei.  Wouldn't that impact the direction of Mason? Make him rethink his priorities?  You can always hang on to the Chosen Hunter angle, but make him into more.  Not everyone in Lower is dead ;)

I saw from your screenies that your PC is lawful (must be to use his weapons).  Perhaps ask the DMs to change your alignment based on personal crisis (poverty, friends dead), and reforge the weapons later based on some new concept.  Or turn them in in an act of rejection.  Whatevs.

Definitely reconsider and evolve him further as others have said.  I liked him and wish Bines could've had him along on his own Chosen/Bandit hunts.

he should come back, I liked him immensely. I even helped him out when he first arrived and wanted to go Chosen hunting. I would hate to see him perma'd. You should bring him out of retirement :-)
