The Palestar

"It is through these rifts that our greatest foe first stepped foot upon our world. It is through these same tears in our reality that I shall go and from our enemy bring back our salvation."

~

A war criminal sentenced to execution, escaping his punishment during the chaos that fell upon the world during the Darkening. For him, his absolution would not be earned by death but by deed. The world had changed and grown cruel, the man bred for war understanding that fate is resolute and that his life had shaped him to endure where others could not. He would burden himself with the belief that somebody must do what others will not and cannot and that he must become this somebody.

Shortly after arriving within the Underdark and Sanctuary, Eoghan was chosen to be one among few to journey back to the surface and into the heart of Cormyr. It was there that he had learned of the atrocities mankind committed upon itself at the beckoning of the divine despite the impending doom of their world...

... and that the gods would reward men for destroying their own... and for conquering their own...

... and it was there that he learned of the alien minds from afar that sought to nurture the lesser races and keep them from conflict. These strange benefactors spoke of peace while men yelled for war still among one another.

The power of blood magic, as always spoken of by his brother Grimmaud, witnessed first hand.

Awaiting the giant's tide at the fore of the Reformed Order's fortification...

Dermott Helmsworth

Eoghan long sought others who were willing to do what others were not and able to do what others could not. Eoghan saw Dermott as one of the few, speaking the vows of the Covenant beside Dermott to join as his protector. Eoghan and Dermott grew fond of one another, It was beside Dermott that Eoghan slowly learned of his own potential and it became clear that their paths would part in time. When Dermott turned his back on Eoghan for the embrace of true family, Eoghan turned to the staff given to him and fully embraced what his friend desperately tried to keep him from. In the end, Eoghan got revenge against Blp (Dermott's oozeling son) for killing Dermott and poisoning Dermott's mind against Eoghan.

Their duel...

The Source

The aftermath of the Night of Crimson Cobbles in which Eoghan lept once more to Dermott's defense as Dermott's sounded Eoghan's horn, a token of their bond and friendship despite their growing rivalry. The horn was given to Dermott as a promise, that should Dermott ever sound it, Eoghan would come to protect him despite circumstance. Eoghan long yearned to journey to Ymph himself to take back his horn and to say farewell to his brother.

HERESY.

TO DEFY A KING. TO TELL HIM OF HIS DEAD SON. TO ESCAPE PUNISHMENT ONCE MORE.

When Eoghan was first given the Palestar he believed that it was the remnants of a being, one that would offer Eoghan guidance when it was most needed. It promised knowledge if only Eoghan would follow the path set before him - one that held many unexpected twists and turns.

Eoghan long sought to use the Palestar to climb his way into the Beyond and to find within it a weapon to give to humanity - a means to end the Dread Empire once and for all - a means to redeem himself. He had found that weapon but it was in his hands the entire time.

What a goddamn character. You know my feelings. Good luck on the next, and feel free to hit me up if my PC dies.

Kinslayer988

One of my favorite pcs of all time. A celebration of what stories can be weaved on efu. A warrior, a pilgrim, and an unforgettable friend.
<SkillFocuspwn> no property developers among men only brothers

RagingPurpleGiant

Our timezones never really meshed up but from what I saw he was a really interesting character. I wanted an epic showdown between him and Fudd more than anything.
<elmo>: i have to say for me your glory days have been on EFUR RagingPurpleGiant1

Pup

A perfect expression of the possibilities in EfU.  Awesome.
"So what else is on your mind besides 100 proof women, 90 proof whisky, and 14 karat gold?"
"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

"Maybe there's just one revolution.  The good guys against the bad guys.  The question is, who are the good guys?"

I was honestly a bit bummed that I came into Eoghan's story so late and even then our playtimes didn't seem to match up as often as I would have liked. But both from at a distance and up close, Eoghan was always incredibly engaging to be around. He genuinely felt like a man with a refined wisdom worthy of being a Pilgrim-Father associated with something as monumental as the Palestar. Eoghan had such gravitas as a character and it felt well-played and well-earned. I know people say this a lot, but I'm really excited to see what comes next.

Ironside

A most excellent PC.

Wench

My brief moments spent with Eoghan were an utter delight, I can't wait to see what you do next!
