I noticed the quarterstaff have had its threat range increase to 19-20(x2), while the Dire Mace has not. It's quite silly to me that a simple weapon that requires no feat to use ends up being superior.

So I suggest to either nerf the quarterstaff back to its initial critical threat range, or otherwise (and perhaps, idealy) change the dire maces' critical threat range. At the end of the day, the dire mace would end up being the equivalent in damage to a double-sword, although bludgeoning.

Quarterstaff is 1d6 as opposed to dire maces 1d8 right? Odd that the quarterstaffs range would be changed though.

Quarterstaff range has been changed to 19-20 sometime ago probably to compensate (a little) for the fact that the best (only) two handed option for certain classes has been destroyed by making it a double weapon. That said, if any changes should be made to diremace I think x3 dmg instead of changing the crit range.

Make it 1d10 but keep the crit range and x2. Lends to its flavor as a bludgeoning weapon more, ie good for fighting undead and other things which are crit immune.

If any changes were to be made anyway, but I think the balance issues tend to be solved somewhat by dire maces of relatively stronger power being more readily available than double swords and double axes.
