I shall begin by thanking Mort [DM] for adding all of the wonderful dyes in-game and sorting them out with not too confusing names.

With that said, finding just the right colour for our character's outfit by name alone still leaves the possibility of not getting that look we desired.

In an effort to mitigate this issue, I have designed a quick reference for the EFU fashion victims out there.

Each dye is labeled with a reference number which can be seen under the dye description upon examination.
Example: Refined Dark Hell Red Clothing Dye has a reference number of 91. Note that 91 in the Cloth and Leather chart below is what this dye will appear as in-game.
This reference number directly correlates with the colour of the swatch of the same numeral allocated in the colour charts below. The Cloth and Leather dyes share the same chart, whilst the metal dyes are organised differently as displayed in the second chart.

Hope it helps folks, enjoy!

You are incredible and I love you.

Even though the code will definitely match the pixels we see in those charts. It's not always going to appear 100% identical to that in-game due to various factors.

In such a case, the dye descriptors such as "Hell red,' etc are still useful to get the subjective feel of the colour.

Or we could all learn hash codes: The Guild - S4 Ep 2: Strange Allies Skip to 4:35 to 5:10.

Giving this a bump because it is hard to find Aethereal's great guide sometimes.

sir

Can this be moved and stickied on the player compendium please?

AllMYBudgies

There you go, in the player compendium for easier access :)

It is a great guide.

I'm sure most of the people here know this already, but I thought I'd chime in with a tid-bit.

If you're not sure what the dye will actually look like on your armor (or any fabric or metal surface for that matter, from what I understand NWN colors may look different depending on your shaders) you can go to the Blacksmith NPC (Tagnar for the Uncertainty Chapter), make a stock suit of armor (without the intention of actually buying the armor), then apply the dyes you wanted to use to that armor from Tagnar's selection. If you don't like it, you can keep playing around with the other shades available until you find the one you like, look for the name from the dye vendor and buy it there.

It's not a one stop shop, but it'll save you the hassle of buying multiple dyes to see what you like the most, and you might actually find a shade of your color that you might like better than your originally intended color-scheme.

Fixed the links that were broken with the forum transition. Hopefully this guide is of use again now.
