After Nov'ah, I still really wanted to participate in the Siege of Mutulakt. I figured it would be a big deal, and it would be a deadly deal, so I was ready from the beginning to lose Sterr. Hell, when I made him, I thought, "Shoot, I'll barely be able to get to level 4 before the event starts, it's right around the corner..." - Heh, well, I had a bit more time to grow fond of the boy, it turns out.

I started Sterr as a lifetime citizen (resident?) of Sanctuary, since the Siege of Mutulakt was so intrinsically connected to Sanctuary, and there was a conscription happening, so it was easy, inspired by a certain conscript halberdier, to report in as a halberd-wielding "Cadet."

Or, as Sterr quickly found out...

...As fodder. So his fate as "Sterr Noros the Fodder Cadet" was sealed!

But maybe not. Sterr grew up a Sanctuary citizen, and by my interpretation, already had a very poor disposition toward the Spellguard and the newly-colored Watchers. Being mistreated by an Agent in person only further polarized that disposition. He was shaping up to be a good Ascensionist...

...And he found himself more and more sympathetic to the people of Lower. But ultimately, Sterr wasn't a man of the "Watchdogs" (as hard as Sergeant Bolton tried), a friend of the "Smellguard," an ally of the Ascensionists, or anything but a man who wanted to protect the people of Sanctuary he grew up with and kill the squidfaced Dread who threatened them - even if he was (via adventuring) rich enough to hide or flee.

All in all, I am surprised by how much more this character became compared to my original intentions, and, especially considering Sterr's final moment, I am very pleased with myself.

Cheers, Event Horizon.  The hate for the dread certainly came through - that was a pretty ideal death, considering.

Looking forward to your next.
