Ylvera Jadmek, Red Guild supporter, Durthan of Rashemi, secret infernalist, is dead.

I've never tried any kind of infernalist, and in retrospect, while I liked the character a lot, the execution was all wrong. Trying to make waves in Upper Sanctuary while attempting to keep my powers under wraps was an exercise in frustration- politics was a passive game of papers and forum-warrioring, and quests and exploration was nail-bitingly tense. If that earth elemental breaks through the line and charges at me, do I make with the summons and spill the beans, or run for my life?

I did enjoy the politicking, mudslinging and backroom chats, however, so maybe there's hope for you filthy Uppers.

Here's her background, if anyone wishes to read:

[hide=Background:] As a spy within the Wychlaran of Rashemi, Ylvera's goals were identical to her sisters in many ways: to overthrow the Hathrans, the ruling power of Rashemi, and seize control of the region. Unlike her fellows, however, Ylvera did not feel that binding corrupted shades and twisted spirits to punish their enemies was effective enough. To accomplish their goals, they would need more power- but from where?

Her life took an abrupt change in her mid-thirties, when Ylvera was captured after a raid on a Thayan caravan went sour, and sold as a slave to a conjurer called Uksura. Uksura was obsessed with making contact with the infernal, and after five years of study and countless failed attempts, he finally succeeded in binding Krelzaneth, a pit fiend, into his service. Ylvera was brought before the devil to serve as a sacrifice for the Thayan's pact with the devil, but moments before her death, the witch smudged the devil's summoning circle with her own blood, and loosened Uksura's protective enchantments. When Uksura commanded Krelzaneth to claim his sacrifice, the Thayan was incinerated on the spot, dead before he realized what had happened.

Here was a power that could unseat the Wychlaran for good, but Ylvera lacked the talents to bend Krelzaneth to her will. Intrigued at the possibility of another soul in his hands, and amused by the witch's will to live, the fiend told informed Ylvera that Uksura's scrolls would likely contain the information she sought to call others of his kin. If she wanted the power she sought, all Ylvera would need to do was study and prepare.

Ylvera fled with the conjurer's tomes, but by the time she reached Lake Mulsantir, a terrible, serpentine shadow flickered across the sky...[/hide]
