Lower Ward Canal Underwater Area

With the recent changes to the Lower Ward Canal Area, the underwater part of it has disappeared. While this is probably intended, there is a transition in the area named Hydraulic Shaft, the one that used to connect it with the lower ward canal underwater area, that is not functioning.
Moreover, there used to be a way to reach the part of the sewers where Slp'Slp'Glp'Etc is located even for those not in possession of a certain item. And it will be missed. There is also a quest located in that same area, that is now only accessible to those in possession of that certain item. Unless of course there is a new path and I have failed to find it.
