NPC Dispels

I have found that ever since NPC's started throwing grenade-like items, I've been being dispelled a ridiculous amount of times. While dispels in and of themselves aren't a bad thing, I find that these items they are throwing are overpowered. There is no defense against them and they are capable of completely stripping high-level mages of buffs.

I'd like to suggest that either blur be made to block these, they be given a touch attack, or that they are simply made to be like spell breach where they consistently get rid of one or two buffs. Then to compensate for this, give goblin enchanters and kobold pyromancers a lesser dispel.

That way everyone and their mother isn't dispelling us of EVERYTHING all the time. Or at least me, I may just be especially unlucky, but I hardly go through anything without being dispelled two or three times.

HalflingPower

They are trying to counter supply bloat.

I forgive the kobolds for having a powerful tool to try to prevent their wholesale slaughter.

I think the DC should be 30 reflex if there was one, I always imagine them bursting before contact into a dust of dispel.

Mort

A saving throw could be a smart idea.

They're a great idea, yes.. I just find it silly that every NPC out there has items capable of fully dispelling even high level mages. DC 30 is ridiculous, most grenade-likes are 15-20 and hit PC's fairly consistently, and are even used to great effect in PvP.

HalflingPower

If they are dc15 they will be a joke. DC20 minimum

They are dispels pc's who cant use wands can utilize I don't see people making a save on that dispel wand hit.

MirrorMask

I second the saving throw.  They do throw those things pretty regularly, so even something likr a DC18 would have folks failing a lot, but give them a chance.

A reflex save just makes Ye Olde Fighter/Rogue even better and clerics/melee mages/druids still massively screwed over by the grenades. It doesn't solve the problem of these things, as you then have the split of PCs that lol at them and PCs that fear them.

The problem with these on NPCs isn't that they are powerful. It is that you can't see the grenades coming and counter them. NPCs casting spells are cool because you can prioritise them as targets and kill them first.  It is one of the ways I like to rock out on Rogues. On the other hand, any random monster could have a Dispel Grenade, so you can't rush in and murder the one who's about to throw it. If Dispels were restricted to specific mobs like "Kobold Grenadier", "Wild Orc, Totem-Hurler" etc who also had other thinks like Alch Fire and Acid Flasks, they would be a tactical challenge. As it is they are just random cases of "and now lose your buffs". That's not particularly interesting gameplay, you just end up reactively chugging potions to get back in the fight.
This is Egon.  He's been away so long he forgot both his normal account name AND the email account he used to register it. So now he's on an alt account until he fixes this :P

Howlando

There are plans to adjust these; I agree they are clunky.
