With regards to this, can dms place a more neutral position when it comes to stargazers because they have been/are very hard to play atm thanks.

((this is based off of playing three stargazers))

It's not like stargazers are being targeted though, mind you. If you have an important server plot related object which has a heavy impact on the server setting as a whole and you are not going to be active then it should be placed in the care of someone who can be.

Too often, way too often, people come into positions of prominence or acquire a highly sought after relic and their self defense mechanism is to just not log in anymore in order to survive. Just make sure if you're not going to be able to play enough to do something with the item or allow others a chance at it you at least pass it on to someone who can.

Big Orc Man

Stargazers were partially (substantially) responsible for the release of an apocalyptic lichess of horrendous power.

Maybe it shouldn't be easy to play one.

I'm not sure if I understand what exactly is being said by the OP of this thread, but if I understand correctly...

Stargazers are supposed to have a hard life. Their way of life is threatened by nearly every living thing (including parts of nature, depending on your affiliations). Embrace the hard life aspects of it. Your way of life is in danger, H'bala's creep spread is getting near the terran base, use some scans to....wait wrong game.

Anyway, the point is that when you play a Stargazer, you might want to approach it like you would any other Mistlocke exile/criminal/H'balan. In that you should expect to be judged, be savage, show no fear, this is your home. My only dislike is how hard it is to make connections/do some interesting RP with non-Stargazers. It can be brutally dull, lonely, and boring (for players as well as DM's who might want to watch Stargazers do something cool). To which I shall make a suggestion as SC has suggested!

But important plot items need to remain in the game. If you don't login much, those plotlines get hijacked out of the control of the DM's unless they do something heavy handed to move them back into the game world for plots to advance. I don't think this is any slight against Stargazers, just something that you should respect as any player who holds a plot item.

Imagine if the entire plot of releasing H'bala hinged on one item, and the guy who had it went MIA. Wouldn't really be too cool for those trying to push that plot to conclusion.

This seems to be the totally valid reason for the recent announcement and possible subsequent actions.

It looks like Vlaid and MacPanther answered this for me. I've been in contact with a few players for the past few months now, so there has been ample time to make sure things work out in way that is both fair and fun.

This thread resolved itself nicely.
