Hear me out!

Clerics capable of casting raise dead are few and far between. Diamonds are a rare commodity and only very few stores (one of was removed) sell them.

It simply stands to reason that when a PC casts raise dead, not only is it treated as a resurrection spell, but for the purposes of the mutilated corpse. Removed head, burned body, etc..., you need at least 4/5ths of the body, however, and a DM to supervise and give a ruling.

Thoughts?

Resurrection is resurrection. Raising dead, is not, and I do not think we will be changing this. Resurrection in itself is far more demanding.

Raising the dead is possible, but it also is demanding task and not every neigborhood cleric can do it with ease. There are several factors that affect it's success.

A difference between Raise Dead and Resurrection is an important one in the gameworld. A severely maimed corpse will always require more capital and energy to bring back from the dead. The roleplaying costs associated with this require a financial component that mirror the consequences of certain actions.
