Since it looks like the old thread has been washed away into the sea and I finally, actually had new news, it's new thread time.

Actual gameplay footage doesn't start until 40s. Basically? it looks kind of like Diablo mixed with Dragon Age. So uh- Dragon Age 2?

"Neverwinter Nights 3 is completely a dungeons and dragons game"

So where are all the rolls and RP?

Epic Fail.  No different from any other fantasy MMO style game.  What we have here, on efu is probably the closest any for profit game company will ever get to what we all call a role playing game. And that is because we all made it, not a company.  A for profit gaming company will doubtfully ever have the ability to take a risk required to create a true Role Playing Computer Game.  All these failed attempts leave out the role playing and rolling of dice, that make EFU awesome. The rest just use the word RPG to denote the use of swords and magic.  A sad state of affairs.

Aethereal

It looks like an action based MMO, and nothing marks it exceptional out of that genre. We shouldn't bother comparing it to RPGs, roleplay was clearly not its intention.

It is through Art, and through Art only, that we can realise our perfection.

Honestly? It looks like they are trying to do something that has been done a lot, with a half-assed attempt to cash in on the NWN name. It doesn't even come close to being the quality of MMO I would play, and looks pretty sub-par for a dungeon crawler from the little I saw.

If they had made it with some kind of module-creation support to run your own servers through them or something of equal ingenuity, I might have been excited. But now? Nope.

They are fighting the standard set by WoW, SWTOR and GW2 for the most part as they seem to be going for the MMO direction. Doesn't even look like it'll dent any of them.

I love the change of combat. But it doesn't look or seem to be anything related to dungeons and dragons.

One step forward, two steps back. >_>

They're doing THOUSANDS of damage.

NOT DnD.

I'm mad.

We want to appeal to a wider audience!

This game is not neverwinter nights 3. It's just ''Neverwinter''. And you can do 1000s of damage in DnD. You can also do 1000s of damage in nwn1 and/or nwn2. DnD is not limited to level 8-10 like EfU. I don't understand when you say that this is not an RPG, to me, when you say that, it sounds like British people arguing about the name of soccer/football, seriously who cares?!

I might try it, I'm not particularly interested, I already play DDO and NWN, that's enough of the DnD setting for me. I'm more interested in Planetside 2, playing the beta right now :)

Softie

This was exactly as disappointing as I expected it to be.  Fuck everything about this.

Incidentally if any of you want more DnD fun, DDO is actually a very fun game AND an a mmo!  It is one of the only F2P games which is actually good, the F2P will give you a good taste of it.

Pandip

DDO is, unfortunately, boringly PvE-based and very dependent upon quirky control mechanics and pay-to-win leveling restrictions.

Softie

That is not fair.  There is no pay to win leveling mechanic.  They made it easier to skip to the end of the game if you want to buy XP buffs or other buffs but the base game is the same as always.  Skipping to the end is pointless, the fun is all of the cool quests and dungeons.

It is a PVE game but it is a lot of fun.
