I think it would be nice for PCs who gain certain ranks or titles in game to have them represented in their name. This would include things that take a decent amount of IC effort, such as a Knight of the Order, Zeulisad of the Conclave, Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Sergeants, High Merchants, and other fitting titles.

Whether it's done through adjustments to the current scripting of those positions via the in-game DM tools or just manually through LETO doesn't matter much, but I think it would be a nice touch.

Alternatively, if you have earned a title of repute, it would be insulting to think the character is not already well known in their faction.

Would be cool, but would not be concealable--if such a thing was desired.

This. It's entirely unnecessary.

The Old Hack

Mmm. Possibly, but a lot of things that are unnecessary are still cool. It's not necessary to be able to redye your gear, for example. However, I do have a concern -- would this affect typed setally or sethostile commands in a negative way, i.e., make them harder to use?

Unless of course all the PCs in your faction die and the new ones have no idea of past history and titles bestowed. Then you're in the position of having to say "hey btw guyz they call me The Greyslayer k thx" which is just weird.

AllMYBudgies

I think that this would be a fairly awesome addition and would allow a sense of prestige for the things that your character has achieved, and as FanaticusIncendi says above; it would allow for those recognitions to be held regardless of how many people remain in your faction etc. without a need to explain yourself through some terrible, almost metagamed conversation about your titles.

Vlaid

If you've gained a title through some deed deserving of a title, something which is public, your name would already be publicly known so being unable to conceal your name does the same thing as being unable to conceal your title.

All in all, I'd be in favor of it. But I'm a big fan of intangible benefits like ranks and similar things.

Seems pointless to me, like relinquished said if you had earned a title amung your organisation it should be relatively known and the only reason i can think for having it in your name is to inform people which also means someone can metagame what faction you're a part of or what rank you hold which should have to be discovered IC.

This would also work against people who want to try and impersonate someone or a ranking member of an organisation. Basically its too metagamey and its only real use would to be a slight ego boost to anyone with a decent title.

Get out there and become well known without OOC additions.

Good example: The Fury (Great Druid)

*Exceptions with apps of course if theres a reason behind it

Porkolt

I thought we weren't supposed to play as though the name hovering above somebody's head matters and that deriving any information from that is considered metagaming.

Then why do we want to make additions to that?

EfUA_undercover

Hey guys, look at me. I have the longest... title.

Nuclear Catastrophe

It's non-trivial to do.  Might break all sorts of EFUSL systems and whatnot.

That said, for very VERY special cases it is -possible-.  Just not something that'll ever be commonplace.
