Feathers up high

This quest ended itself today. I have no idea why. Is there perhaps an automatic timer that ends it? If not its a bug :)

After talking to the NPC after the next reset she wont let me take the quest agien. The dialog hints that I have just given her the feathers, wich I have not.

After dropping the feathers I found on my last try she let me take the quest.
