Multitudes of Apocalyptic prophecies abound throughout the realms.  Visions of a great time of destruction that will change the face of Toril as we know it.  Although, nowhere in the realms is this prophecy as preponderant than on the archipelago of islands called Ymph.  There exists here and large cadre of men whose principle purpose is too battle against the Apocalypse.

Behold,  the Apocalypse does come, but it need not mean annihilation for us all.  Within will be related the true form of the reckoning before us, and the bond this island holds to it.

The Dragon Queen

And so it was that Tiamat, Queen of Dragons, arose to fight the tyranny of the gods of Unther.  Alas, she was brought low when the bastard god Marduk interfered.  But, lo, Tiamat was not dead, and she destroyed the accursed attacker with talon and fang.

For centuries she bided her time, for she is eternal.  With strength renewed, the Tiama rose again to wage war upon the despot Gilgeam.  This haughty god, thinking he had killed the Dragon Queen, grew ever more oppressive.  But Tiamat is not easily slain, for she is many.  Made whole again by her children, the Nemesis of the Gods, ascended yet again and slew the tyrant, Gilgeam, laying waste to all he had created and destroying all the gods of Unther.

And so it shall be with all the deities of Toril, who impose their wills upon the peoples of this world.  Godly teeth will gnash and celestial blood will flow as the Dragon Queen brings an death to the divine tyrants.  This is the Apocalypse.

King of the Isles

"They gave themselves in supplication, and named him King of the Isles.  The exodus was ended, and the people of the Five were joyous..."

-The Crown Fragments

"The King looked up to the skies, and begrudged them their lordship of the earth beneath him.  Idols were burned, and there were no more temples in Old Port."

-Revelation of the Touch

And so the loyal subjects of the King of the Isles were called the people of the Five, named thus for the five heads of Tiamat.  For when the King reigned, he worked the will of his Dragon Queen, bringing destruction to all other faiths.

The Cinquefoil Rose

Upon the downfall of the King, the people of the Five were forced into secret, lest they all fall victim to the conquering corsairs.  But they did not lose faith.  To evade persecution a new symbol was chosen to mark their holy sites.  A rose, the mark of the feminine for their Queen, with petals five, one for each of her glorious heads.

H'bala

The Order Numinous would have us believe that the lich H'bala is the source of the Apocalypse.  They are mistaken, for only one Dark Lady holds the power change the very face of the world, and Tiamat is her name.  But, lo, the lich of Ymph shall play a part in the coming doom.  For the great blue wyrm, Shevorth, worked the will of Tiamat when he sought to release the undead witch, H'bala, from her towering prison.

Rapture

"What if this Apocalypse, this end of things is simply the cycle of existence..."

"Gods cast down, Kings made low and seas drying so that something new and whole arises in its place."

-Cycle of Existence

Fret not, for the anguish and death that Tiamt brings for the gods, need not be your fate as well.  Serve the Dragon Queen while she prepares for this great ending, and you will be celebrated in the new world she creates upon taking her rightful throne.
