LOL.

It does seem to make many people feel good and trendy to say they play only for pure rp.

You can't powergame on EfUA, since power is certainly something you can't achieve alone on this server. The powergamer labeled players are lvl 8 max, just as those who ... er, quest, also.

EfU is a harsh server. Having a build that allows your pc to survive (a bit longer) to achieve rp goals doesn't seem stupid to me. Have a pc that has no goals and only a build is weird, but hells, if that's the way you enjoy the game, who am i to judge your way of having fun?

You certainly can quest to your heart's content, but, hey, you know, i don't see anyone complaining about there own character questing a lot.

So you don't pause between quests? Well, that's naughty naughty! There really should be a timer in between quests to refrain people who enjoy playing a video game where you smash things and make jokes as you go.

Bottom line is, just let people enjoy the game how they see fit.

As much as i understand DMs labeling such and such player "not really useful to the server" (that'd be me!), and others "very involved and making the server a cool place" (that'd be lots of people!), other player's remarks about powergaming seem out of place in EfUA, IMO.

But that's just me.

Luke Danger

This is probably why none of my characters ever get too high in levels, but I usually quest sparingly, prefering to RP, then again, this explains why while my character should be tougher, he isn't.

But for me it's a balance.

Caddies

It's perfectly fine to play an effective or survivable build and quest alot. I think you'll find that the founding DM team did precisely that when they were players years ago.

Having said that, its more important to have goals for your character and never lose sight of pursuing them during the course of his career.

Nihm

The one doesn't have much to do with the other.  Profuse questing does not somehow equal an aimless character.  Many influential characters do quest a great deal.  Some questers will seemingly just quest, but some roleplayers will seemingly just roleplay while achieving nothing as well.  By the standard of using impact on the server, a lot of questers and roleplayers - the majority actually - will have no impact and are thus "failures" in that sense.

If everyone had an effective and server-changing character, it wouldn't be special when it happened.

I don't gimp my builds, and I try not to gimp my RP. It's fun to quest, quest hard, and quest hard with good buds you have fun RPing with.

Mean people suck. I don't RP with them, unless it's just mean RP. That's doesn't suck.

I am a powergamer, although a crappy one. A crappy one that dies to Nuke in PvP.

Might be a bit off topic, but I thought Nuke is a pro in PvP? >_>

Dr Dragon

DMs have quested alot for example Mort had a lvl 11 rogue. Also Dms just do more then powerquesting they give XP to Npcs they like. I recall Azzam going from lvl 10 to lvl 16 when he did no questing whatsoever.

Sternhund

That's what Azzam wants you to think, DrD. He was simply the most awesome powergamer in EFU history.

Aldrick Tanith

He got XP for all the necks he snapped.  Duh.

Luke Danger

Actually, he jacked his XP from the players, where do you think all the XP we lose to Fugueings go?
