Some background

Some years ago in the Underdark, the Spellguard were a faction of wizard defenders, notorious for their secretive and nefarious behavior in the defense of Sanctuary. In the final days before the mass-exodus, the Spellguard finally wrested control of Upper Sanctuary and established a de facto autocratic rule. Civil war ensued, the Spellguard were defeated. They cut themselves off from Sanctuary using a powerful force field erected by the mysterious Dunwarren "Machine". After the mass exodus, the Spellguard are the only faction who have been able to survive the harsh new conditions of Sanctuary as they work to complete the Machine and realize its undisclosed purpose.

...now a Spellguard Agent and his companions have emerged from the Underdark on some mysterious mission for their organization. After a phase of reconnaissance, they have finally announced that they will be establishing a sub-faction on Ymph.

The goals of the Spellguard Surface Cell (which we can talk about openly!) are:
  • Going head-to-head with the Conclave in all of its own domains, with the intention of aggressively eclipsing its magical authority in the colony.
  • Expanding the Surface Cell and its authority.
  • (Ostensibly) serving the Duke and protecting the Dominion.
  • Uncovering the island's colorful past.
  • Organize an eventual trip to Sanctuary to report personally to the Spellguard.
  • Good old-fashioned Spellguard subjugation.
Although they are beneath the authority of "Cell Agents" (wizards and sorcerers only), "Spellguard Associates" receive a place of respect and importance in the Surface Cell, and these can be of just about any class. There are just a few limitations:
  • Any alignment can try to join, but you'll be a lot more successful in the organization with a LN / LE comportment.
  • Paladins and druids definitely don't work, nor do clerics of non-lawful or good-aligned gods.
I'll see you all in-game!

That will be interesting for a faction with only three players. XD

Well at least the recruitment post might help alleviate that issue.

Spellguard were my favorite faction down in Underdark and I would love to talk to you some time about joining the faction.
<SkillFocuspwn> no property developers among men only brothers

I've very fond memories of my time in the Spellguard (as agent or associate). This faction has so much potential and oozes flavour. If I were starting a new PC, I'd be on this like flies on $#|1!!

This will likely be so freakin amazing! I'm willing to sabotage the computers of my family members just to play an Agent or Associate.

Wrexsoul

I've always nourished a secret longing for joining a faction such as this; Being greatly intrigued first of the War Wizards on CoA where I first started roleplaying, rolling up a wizard with the aim of joining the Spellguard when EfU was first created, and now I see they're back and kicking with me already having an active character. Boo! :( I would totally join this if I could. Add to the mix that Miserere plays one kick-ass Spellguard that seems awesome to be involved with no matter what, and you have a win-win situation, so go for it!

Could not agree more on all counts.

Needs more elite, LE mages IMO

Here is the deal! The Spellguard is casting off its Dominion ties, and as a result we anticipate that they will be despised and hunted by practically all of the major factions. We are still very eager for fresh blood (especially mages), but it will not be for the faint of heart. Recruits need to be disciplined, competent and preferably comfortable in PvP.

Send a PM if you would like to discuss your concept.

I think this is pretty cool and y'all should join.
