Metal faction

OK, bear with me as I explain.

I was thinking for a bit, and got an idea into my head. I was thinking along the lines of 'Hey, there's druids that love nature and abhor most metal, yet no faction that is mostly the reverse since the Spellguard'.

The basis of the faction is this: A group of people who think metal and arcane magic is the way to go. A group of them who were working hard on finding the perfect location to build a 'perfect city' made out of metal and magic get warped over to the Zig, and they, looking around, decide that they might as well do so in Ymph or a nearby island. Thus they begin scouting, searching for metal, and preparing for a massive undertaking. This includes questing, getting support, and of course, dealing with any pesky druids or nature freaks who decide to stop them.


It's not going to be a active PvP searching group, but if threatened, I figure that it'd get ready for combat and sharped their metal. Also, there could be a distinct possibility of intruige as they deal with those around them.

Like to play a scholorly character that has magic? No problem, researching into how to make such a dream possible is going to be a key element of the faction. Just a run of the mill fighter? No problem, need someone to hack the enemy's skin.

It's really just in the planning stages, so anything goes, but expect it to be lawful, non-druidic, Paladins will definitly be in the 'if' area, because good and evil isn't going to be a worry, so they very well may work with a evil character.

The faction is fairly open, so it can become something very unquie if players are leaned towards one thing. I really hope that as it goes, weather soaring and conqouring (eventually they'll get trigger happy. . .) or crashing and burning in their own steel,, that the players involved make a effect of how it's outlook is.

If you want to join, PM me with the concept, I won't likely turn it down, but I do intend to set up a IG meeting (probably just linking us all together with party and we log on as a retired/dead character) so we can discuss matters real time and finalize the starting bits before we get going.


Any suggestions I'd prefer being open in this thread.

If my concept does not get accepted I would try to help with that. Sounds like a fun idea to do. Mainly it could be like a new spellguard if it has enough help. I think that it might be something that a DM might like too, but it is also good to try and make a background and goal for them.

I want to make it clear that the goal of the faction, the OOC one at least, is to provide the players a chance to influence how it goes, but the basic goal of trying to set up a 'perfect city' made out of metal and magic is most likely going to be the long-term goal. Again, I intend to set up a meeting IG with any who are going to join the faction so we can discuss back round and reasons for any goals we decide the faction's should be. Obviously this meeting will be with retired/dead characters and we connect via party.

Well it would have more than just mages, it would be full of fighter mages. One thing to make clear too is who is your char so we can meet the char?

When I said a 'IG meeting', I meant us using old/retired characters to meet so any intrested could discuss the faction and we could agree on a backround and how it's organized initially.

So for example I may log Orik Ironhammar on (he's dead) and then have any who are intrested send me a tell, then we have our OOC chat agreeing on the IC backround of the faction. When we hold the meeting, I'll post in here which character I'm using and you just gotta send me a tell for a invite. Then we hold our meeting. It won't be face to face, so you'll have to rely on the chat window.

But for now, consider the faction having parts, some simple fighters who agree to the philosophy but aren't able to use the arcane well enough to quality for magery, to mages who can do magic needed.

So just PM me a concept for the faction, and I'll add your name to the list. Send me times your avalible too, I'll want to know them so I can try and set up a meeting we all can make.

I figured I'd get playing on my character now, but since no one's intrested, if you want to be 'part of it', I'm not going to give it any true backround other then at the very least one group meeting. If you want to make someone who knows my new character (Darvin Steel) from meetings about building a 'perfect city of metal', please send me a PM because if anyone wants to play a person who was part of the group that gets warped into Ymph later, that's absolutely fine and I won't give you any hard times over it.

Sorry I'm jumping the gun, I'm just getting a bit trigger happy and want to get some work done with my new character.
