Hey folks, I have a favour to ask!

I'm going to sing an aria of Mozart from Figaro's Wedding for an audition in a week and a half, and being an aria it's in Italian. Now, I don't know a word of Italian beyond the ones playing Super Mario has taught me, and to sing it convincingly, I need to know exactly what the lyrics mean.

So I figured, there has to be -one- of you smart people who are proficient in this beautiful but enigmatic language. I would appreciate it tons if someone could help me translate the lyrics if I write them down here. Thanks!

Oh, and please, no subtle joke translations, this really is important to me, and I really don't know the language well enough to tell >_>.

Oh, and, I'm copying this from the sheet music, which means I'm removing a whole slew of dashes and such, so I hope the words are still accurate. In particular, there's a lot of double consonants that feel weird, but alas! Here it is.

La Vendetta

La vendetta, oh, la vendetta,
è'un piacer serbato ai saggi.

L'obbliar l'onte gliol traggi
è bassezza, è ognor viltà.

Coll'astuzia... Coll'arguzia.
Coll'giudizio, Coll'criterio.
Si potrebbe!

Il fatto è serio;

Ma credete, si farà.

Se tuto'il codiche dovessi volgere,
Se tuto l'indice dovesi legere,
Con un e quivoco, con un si nonimo,
qualche gar buglio si trove rà!

Tutta Siviglia conosce Bartolo,
Il birbo Figaro vinto sarà!

There it is (plus a million repeats of each line), thanks to whoever takes the time to translate it for me, it'll help me out a ton!

Vengeance, oh, vengeance
Is a pleasure reserved to the wise.

To forget a shame or an outrage
Is always base and cowardly.

With astuteness, with cleverness,
With judgment, with discernment,
One can do it!

The case is serious;

But believe me, it will be done.

If I have to turn over the whole law-code,
If I have to read the whole index,
With a quibble, with a substitution,
I'll find some way to mess it up.

All of Seville knows Bartolo;

That rascal Figaro will be beaten.

Wrexsoul

You are the best - Thanks a ton! :D

My italian is not great by any long shot, but this is the best I can do.

Vengeance, oh, vengeance
Is a pleasure reserved to the wise.

To forget the shame or an outrage
Is low and always cowardly.

With guile, with wit,
With judgement, with (?),
One can do it!

the fact is serious,

believe me, it will be done.

(?) Something about reading all of something and getting into a fight

All of Seville(?) knows Bartolo,
That scoundrel Figaro will be beaten.

Edit:What Johannes said

Porkolt

Yeah. Got it with google in about ten seconds before I noticed Johannes'd already posted it.

Good luck with your audition. It's a nice aria.
