Server timeline

Over my time on here I've noticed that it seems like none of us know exactly where in the FR timeline we are as a server. When I've asked I've had one, maybe two, people tell me it's some time after the spell plague. Sadly I have to admit I'm not sure what that is, since most of what I know about FR comes from the 2nd Ed era novels and what I've read in the game books from, mostly, 3.X D&D.

I felt it was weird that it seemed like no one could agree, or sometimes give any idea, about the server's timeline, so....this's me asking.

Current year is 1377 DR. It is most definatly NOT after the Spellplague, which occured in 1385 DR, but it is after the Time of Troubles, which occured in 1358 DR.

Given the limited flow of information, things from the current year can be expected to likly not be known by new arrivals, depending on your association to them. The War of Myth Drannor and it's crusade may be known to you, but the return of the Shrinsee likly would not.

1376:

House Jaelre and Clan Auzkovyn are routed from the Elven Court by the forces of Myth Drannor.[1]

The Zhentarim conclude the war with Myth Drannor. A negotiated peace treaty between Fzoul Chembryl and Ilsevele Miritar leaves the forest to the elves, the lands north of Hillsfar and Dagger Falls and the rule of the Zhentarim, and gives the Black Network free passage along the Moonsea Ride and Rauthauvar's Road.[1]

• Nyphithys, Erinyes consort to Arklem Greeth is killed by Obould Many-Arrows.[citation needed]

• Larger numbers of nilshai than ever before are reported in the Yuirwood. In response to this sharp increase and the creatures shocking depredations, the Simbul posts a bounty on nilshai hides.

1375:
 

Hammer: Adventurers lead a rebellion against Shadowdale's new 'allies' after halting the degeneration of the local Weave and severely weakening the Zhent garrisson.[1]

Kythorn: Szass Tam attempts to take over Thay as high zulkir.[2]

Zhentilar forces under the command of Hatemaster Cvaal Daoran march upon Phlan and seize it.[3]

• Hammer: Syluné Silverhand sacrifices herself to heal a massive dead-magic zone that covers most of Shadowdale.[4]
  
• Hammer 13: Scyllua Darkhope dies at the hands of adventurers in the liberation of Shadowdale from the Zhentarim[5]
  
• Mirtul 5[5]: Druxus Rhym, Zulkir of transmutation in Thay, is assassinated.[6]
  
• On Eleint 30: Halaster Blackcloak dies amidst earthquakes in Waterdeep and his soul is shattered into hundreds of fragments.[5]

• Nightal 20: Selvetarm is slain by a mortal follower of Eilistraee wielding the Crescent Blade.[5]
  
• Nightal 20: Vhaeraun is killed by his sister, Eilistraee, when he attempts to enter her realm and assassinate her, in the process granting his portfolio to her.[5]

• Ches 19: The ancient fey capital of Karador rises from the waters of the Myrloch on the southern-most of the Moonshae Isles, Gwynneth. [7]

• Ches: The noble eladrin High Lady Ordalf proclaims herself queen of Gwynneth, or Sarifal - the ancestral lands that Karador once ruled over, thus displacing the human kingdom of Corwell.[7]

• All arcane spellcasters and anyone with any connection to Undermountain receive visions from the spirit of Halaster. Adventurers known as the Called arrive at the Yawning Portal to descend into the dungeon for various reasons.[8]
  
• The same adventurers who led the rebellion against the Zhents in Shadowdale foil a plot by the shadovar to obtain a copy of the Nether Scrolls. They succeed, causing riots in Thultanthar, but in doing so they also shatter the Sharn Wall and one of the scrolls still ends up in the hands of the shades[9].

• Alturiak: Tower Reilloch on Evermeet is invaded by Daemonfey.[1]
  
• 1 Ches: An orc warband accompanied by daemonfey launch an overnight attack on Rheitheillathor in the High Forest. Although the wood elf inhabitants fought back, they were forced into retreat.[2]
  
• 27 Ches: The Battle of the Cwm sees the elves of Evereska and Evermeet victorious against the daemonfey armies, but not without heavy casualties.[3]
  
• 6 Tarsakh: The army from Everlund led by Methrammar Aerasumé is ambushed in the High Forest by the daemonfey and accompanying orcs. The daemonfey and orcs are driven back, but only one fey'ri is killed in exchange for a larger number of casualties on the other side.[4]
  
• 1 Nightal: The lich Priamon "Frostrune" Rakesk is defeated by Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun, and teleported to Undermountain for the Mad Mage to exact revenge on the Frostrune.[5]
  
• 15 Nightal: Sharran assassins bypass the wards on Elminster's tower and steal a Shadow Weave artifact called the Ebon Diadem.[6]
  
• Scyllua Darkhope invades Shadowdale from the north while drow attack the Twisted Tower from below. Shadowdale is overrun.[7]

• Blackstaff: On the Feast of the Moon, a High Magic Ritual of Myriad is performed to restore Faer’tel’miir, the Library City of Miyeritaris as the renamed city of Rhymanthiin, the Hidden City of Hope in the High Moor.[5]
  
• Shadowstorm, 30 Uktar: The Battle of Selgaunt is fought. The forces of Selgaunt repel the attackers.[8]
  
• Final Gate, 22 Eleasias: The crusading army of Evermeet combined with the forces of Sembia and the Dalelands defeat the Fey'ri legion and retake the city of Myth Drannor in the name of the Elves.[9]

• Across Faerûn, people flock to Elversult to convert to the Church of Amaunator.[citation needed]
  
• The clergies of Cyric and Shar in Cormyr conspire to tear a hole in the Weave to create a vast Dead-magic zone.[10]
  
• Mask surrenders himself to Shar, who absorbs his essence, resulting in Mask's death.[11]

• Imbrar II becomes king of Impiltur.

• 16 Alturiak: Sarya Dlardrageth uses the Gatekeeper's Crystal to dispel the magical protection on Nar Kerymhoarth and gains access, freeing nearly two thousand fey'ri.[12]
  
• Reverent Dreamer Rhistel Laerithar's Treatise Historical of the Dragon Tyrants is recovered from the ruins of Myth Drannor.[13]
  
• Eratharn of Candlekeep writes The Kingdoms of Men: A Guide to the Great Rulers about humanity's history on Toril.[14]
  
• Cragwarden Samiel Tussin unearths two runestones from the sands of Itzcala, just southwest of Trythosford. The translated text from them describes the Rockfire Disaster of 987 DR.[15]
  
• The young bard Elender Stormfall publishes the chapbook The Dream of the Dragon, an excerpt of which describes the first few days after the death of Azoun IV.[16]

• Neverwinter Nights 2: The King of Shadows attacks the Sword Coast from the Plane of Shadows.
  
• Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer: Following victory over the King of Shadows, the Kalach-Cha is transported halfway across Faerûn to the country of Rashemen and comes under the influence of a curse called the Spirit-eater.
  
• Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir: Volothamp Geddarm journeys with a quartet of adventurers to the jungles of Samarach and is shipwrecked. A sect of yuan-ti devoted to the god Zehir attempts to overthrow the reigning yuan-ti royal family (devotees of Sseth).

And so on and so forth. Keep in mind, as the Server follows it's own lore timeline, one can assume that the dieties Mask and Vhaerun are presumed alive for the purposes of our server. Furthermore, Finder Wyvernspur is a dead power and Moander lives but slumbers in torpor beneath the Bogs (wether or not you know this ICly is another matter, but Moander is not considered a dead power)

Also, anything that is written in the books to have happened after the year the server was started is not guarantueed to have happened on EfU. The server isn't canon, and the DM's won't put up with all of the bullshit Wotc has been spewing lately.

That's true. They really did butcher the setting to 'set up' for 4th Ed.

EfU is 3.0/3.5 as a starting point, lore wise. 4.0 didn't happen and we have made some non-canon changes of our own.

Even the Time of Troubles is best ignored, as it is really stupid.

Time of troubles was useful only for introducing Kelemvor as a diety in it's aftermath, and perhaps the new Mystra.

To trump up Torm as the new high nonny no of Lawful Goodness Knightly diefication. I think Torm absorbed all of Tyr's portfolio, and made Illmater his exarch? Or did he absorb Illmaters portfolio too?

 
Anyway they probably thought Helm was redundant with Torm. A shame, Helm is the Heimdall of Forgotten Realms, and anyone who knows, knows Heimdall is one bad mofo. With his golden teeth.

 He lost a duel to Tyr over Tymora, I think. I looked it up after finding out he had died a while back.
 
I usually just avoid outside stuff, I knew spellpurge didn't happen yet, 'cause mages would be right crippled, and figured it was after the time of troubles 'cause no random demi-deity blew stuff up.
