Well I can see many things that you could do.. But what I propose, is that you can have one use per rest and you can use it and be able to use the spells you've already learned. and you can put it in a safe place. Maybe not. -shrug-

Another thing is to be able to share the book, just as you would scrolls, except if it's a book, you can just hand it to the trusted read'e. It makes for good role-play. Even though it's a long shot, it would be liable, same as reading a scroll, even though it might be unfair. There are plenty of unfair things though, so please give me some feed back?:)

Divine Intervention

The spellbook trading would be overpowered IMO. Every spell they know free of charge.

Second that.  I always thought of spellbooks as a personalized set of notes that not anyone would be likely to decipher on a lark to just "borrow" in order to learn some spells.

I understand, just an opinion (: thanks though.

You should be able to copy from one another's spellbooks, there's no IC reason why you couldn't. Saying 'no' to something that should be able to be done IC'ly for strictly OOC reasons doesn't sit well with me. If you think something is overpowered, make it more difficult to do. How about scribing spells from another's spellbook costs a certain amount of gold, representing the cost of magical inks and the such, but make it less than the cost of a scroll (75% the cost? so a scroll costing 100 to scribe to a scroll would instead cost 75 to directly scribe from another book), I say they should be cheaper because scrolls are used as back-ups, emergency castings, and for selling to people like sorcerers and rogues. Because of this, scrolls have many more uses than simply scribing to your own book.

Im so glad you said something, because I would have looked stupid trying to say the same thing, that is exactly what I had in mind!
