I don't know if this would work but i saw a post relating to giving someone invincibility when they spawn back into their bodies, obviously this is a bit extreme but perhaps there is a way around it.

For example, when you are subdued and you are allowed to stand some stats are lowerd along with movement speed; If you respawn back into your body and the effect of sanctuary was prescent for say two rounds or so, it would give you enough time to pick up your items and escape along with there still being a slight risk.

The current system is fine so i'm not complaining but sometimes a DM is needed to clear the area, this might reduce that case allowing DMs to get on with more important issues.

Let me ask you a quick question, SS;

If you make this realistic... when you get "killed", and you respawn back to your body... basically, your soul, or spirit is sent back to it's mortal shell. If you stood back up in the midst of battle, you'd be weak, disoriented, and very vulnerable.

I'm not against, nor am I for any of this. If it makes the game more enjoyable for most, it won't ruin my fun!

The one mechanic in game that hasnt set well with me is the fact you have to pick up your things in the first place.  Does the act of getting the snot beat out of you throw EVERYTHING in your pack, belt, pockets, all onto the ground?  No, of course not.  So having to pick up your things is very much an OOC thing to begin with.

P.S.  Dieing isnt half as bad as redoing 3 full hotkey bars, trying to find your potions, etc.

A short sanctuary effect so one has a chance to activate stealth mode, cast invis, or just heal yourself and get away safely would be nice. Dying sucks, dying again sucks more.

There's also a huge problem with most monsters' ability to lock on to you permanently if they hear you when invised, and the fact it's not possible to turn off auto-retaliation. I once died three times in a row recovering my pack due to a combination of:
Goblin Shamans hearing me and unerringly dispelling me.
Having bullets in my bag so when I picked up my pack, the sling with no ammo I'd equipped to prevent auto-retaliate was then loaded and revealed me.
Is there any way to provide a weightless item that can be equipped to stop you auto attacking?

Yeah thats why i'm saying if 'Sanctuary' or 'Greater Sanctuary' Was present for a couple of rounds, monsters would be un aware of you for that space of time.

Realisticly, if you stand up from a near death experience:
1) The monsters wouldn't expect you to get up from your condition, so they wouldn't be paying attention to you anyway (This is where sanctuary comes in)
2) You are dissorientated so you, just grab your bag and run off.

And i don't see it being too extreme or even being abused.

Yeah, the problem you're tipping at here isn't the fact that you drop your stuff, but that it leaves your inventory when you die.

If you want to keep your hotkeys and careful inventory arrangement in proper shape, that means you can't drop your items. And if you can't drop your items when you die, other people can't pick them up. And that's a very important thing to be able to do.

So are people supporting the idea of sanctuary or not cause i'm getting mixed signals here and i don't think a DM has checked this yet either.
