Woodworking

I would like to see the implementation of items through the Woodworking skill. Specifically, please introduce the ability to create chairs of various sizes, tables, merchant stalls, persistent signs, boxes (perhaps with 10% weight reduction?), and maybe even persistent chests. It would be good to have chairs and tables that can be placed, used, swiveled, and recovered, in order to make certain areas more cozy. I'm thinking specifically of the area beside the stage outside the Wastrel. Merchant stalls would also be a great investment for merchant PCs who can then set up shop anywhere. Persistent chests could be crafted with the same level of complexity as the more secretive alchemical and herbal recipes, and while they wouldn't necessarily have locks, they could be a good way for a faction to stake their claim on an area.

Really, I would like to see more crafting available of all types. At the moment, crafting is a peripheral but rewarding passtime, but limited in the type of crafting available. It's not in danger of replacing questing, PC interaction, or things like that; rather, it supports these things. Since the basics of the crafting system are already in place, I think it would be good to put them to more use.

The creation of persistent peaceable objects would be amazing.

Persistent placeables run the risk of exploitation, unfortunately.  They could be used to block doors, force yourself through "plot" doors and etc.  I'm also quite sure persistent storage chests are completely out of the question.  If they are made to be walked-through, this would be nice.

"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

I think that yes, these could be used as barricades. In fact, the idea is that one of these items would specifically be a barricade. But of course, they'd be destructable.

I dont like this. We play NWN a game where you slay dragons, butcher orcs and save the virgin. We do not play the sims where you have to make the shady docks cosy.

P.S I hate to sound grumpy so no hard feelings ;)

Players can break them, but AI can't, which is always a fear.  This has been suggested multiple times in the past, and I do believe we have a mechanism for this already that we can reward certain players with, but don't see it opening to the general playerbase.

I do respect how fun it can be to layout furniture, but another thing it conflicts with is DMs building and modifying areas (because we can't see persistent objects in the toolset).
