I have a Gateway FX p8400 series laptop running vista which I'm running in compatability mode have all the driver downloads and critical rebuild shit....but it still crashes pretty much immediatly after I log into the server I've also tried running it on one processor but that just made it worse. If anyone knows how to help me or a game that is pretty much exactly the same RP experience and will work on my computer I'd be very grateful cuz I'm about to give up.

(Can you play on the single player modules, for example?)

Try logging in on more than one PC, if so. I've had issues where for whatever reason my client would crash always with the same PC, yet logging on another PC, logging out and then logging on the PC I tried first would work.

It still doesn't work on campaign it works for a few minutes then crashes my entire computer and I have to hold the power button to shut it down

Try running NWN in singleplayer with all background programs closed and see if it works.

I had a simmilar porblem. Maybe it has to do with your screen solution or collour set up. I am no computer expert though.

Yeah so nothing has worked at all and I give up lol. I'll buy Windows 7 and it'll be all sunshine and rainbows just like everyone says.

This MIGHT be it...

I don't know how you connect to the internet, but it might a port-forwarding (I think that's the term) issue.  You might have to change the 'port'(?) number in the NWN.ini(?) file to something close to but different that its base 6800(?) default number like 6804 or something.  I'm really foggy on the details of this fix but it is worth a shot and I will try to get clearer (real) details tomorrow as it is late.  google it NWN port forwarding.
