DC, thanks for taking the time to engage in this.  We've never had a problem before, but I feel like I'm taking up the banner for the faceless masses that regularly are treated like toads when they make comments on here.

Honesty is indeed good.  But I'd suggest that treating players differently based on how much time they play is treading a path this DM staff may not want to travel.

QuoteBut the thing is, there is no way for you to be judging how much this does or does not happen, if you don't log in!"

I do log in and play when I can.  I will say that playing a nature based PC can make it more difficult to find things to do.  Other nature PCs seem to only last a few weeks then perma.

I have logged Hiko in and wandered the areas around the zig for an hour or more without seeing other PCs numerous times.  Couple that with the infusion of creatures like Assassin Vines, Shargass Disciple's and Yellow Musk Creepers that can snatch a PC out of stealth or invis and kill them with a couple of bad rolls - wandering alone is foolish.

It's not IC for my character to hang out in the zig, but for practical purposes that almost seems to be mandatory to find other PCs to interact with.

QuoteIn the 14 months your PC has existed, he has 57 hours of playtime. That is less than 5 hours of playtime per month.

That is completely incorrect.  I don't know where you got these numbers, but they are not at all accurate.

CrazyNut had to remake Hiko a couple months ago because his racial bonuses were stacking silly high, so the data is not accurate on him.  But I can assure you that I've played much, much more than 5 hours/month.  I'd guess its closer to 50hrs /month over his 7-8 month career.

QuoteI personally do not feel that is enough for you to have made the judgement as to what is going on IG adequately. That is not "ire" or a "jab" it is merely the truth.

Wow.  I was unaware that playtime is directly linked to one's right to offer a simple suggestion.

Perhaps being unable to play for 8 hours straight or more multiple days a week should disqualify me from playing on this server anymore.

And perhaps the DM staff should make it clear that people that can only play 2-3 hours a night a few times per week should STFU or go away?

After all, we're being honest here.

Quote from: SkillFocuspwn;157088I find when it comes to things like this, things that are the DMs efforts, it's best to leave it to them. The DMs don't make any rules on how you play except for keep it IG, so we shouldn't really start trying to tell them what we want from them! They give enough already.

Then they should remove the suggestion forum.

If they want me to STFU and just play, I will.  Or I'll leave if I don't like it.

But at least I'll know the score.

Razored Aria

*sighs* And here I thought we were on a generally positive track.  Oh well, nothing good lasts I suppose.

DeputyCool

Playtime is directly related to one's ability to comment on what goes on IG. That is just a fact. If the "simple suggestion" was like, "Add a waste basket to the Starwood" sure, that is something you can say with limited playtime. But if it's an observation about a trend, you have to be around enough to really be sure it's a trend.

I did not say you have to play 8 hours a day. But, you need to be playing consistently to say that DM's possessions are a certain way, and not a certain way.

Anyway, I am going to lock this because I think it's not really going in the direction it should be. Namely, any productive one. Anyone who still wants to discuss it, feel free to PM me on IRC. Including Gwydion and Razored Aria, whoever you may be!

ExileStrife

Just clearing it up: Hiko has been online for 321 hours since May 13th.

DeputyCool

I blame Strife, for EFUSL being wrong tbh.

QuoteThis character was created on Thursday, October 8th at 07:33:36 PM.
Since creation, this character has logged on and off 70 times.
The character has spent 2 days, 19 hours, 24 minutes, and 56 seconds online.

Since this is wrong, I do apologize to Gwydion for misrepresenting his playtimes.

Sternhund

I once tried to get a career as an actor for the role of Harry Potter. Damn that Daniel Radcliffe!
