Connection woes

Vaulted Shadows

So of late I have had a great deal of connection woes. Basically that everytime I log in I am being dropped quite quickly. I have tried other servers and it is the same issue, the mmo I play works fine but for whatever reason nwn suddenly does not.

I have scoured the net for answers. I use a Belkin wireless router, and my understanding is that for whatever reason it cannot forward enough ports for nwn so my only real option is to try and turn my dynamic ip into a static ip. I've tried this twice and each time the process works but I can't seem to log my computers back onto the net without going back to a dynamic.

I'd be willing to keep trying but the thing is I played on efu just fine for a solid 2-3 months with no issue until recently. I thought at first maybe it was just my service provider but now it's been 2 weeks of solid dropping so i'm sure it's something on my end.

I'm open to suggestions but till I find some magical soultion I just don't seem to have any nwn luck.

It could be an issue connecting to the master nwn or the gamespy servers.

as for forwarding the ports, there are only a couple that are actually important:

5120, 5121, 27900, 28900.

As for changing from dynamic to static, sometimes it can take some time before your modem or router will actually let you reconnect. Sometimes you will need to completely turn off the modem and router, wait a bit, and then turn them back on, let your computer reconnect and then go to your control panel > network connections, and then right click your connection and hit 'repair'.

But usually, either of these options only matter if you're hosting nwn.  If it was an issue of forwarded ports, you wouldn't be able to connect at all, usually.

Maybe if you're using a wireless router, its getting tampered with.

well

Well my wireless adapter did go down, and I fixed it so now I again have internet, as does, our other house comp. I can connect to any gameworld, I just can't stay connected.

At the moment there does not seem to be anyway to tell it, connect to this server regardless, so I seem to be stuck.

The firewall of my router dosn't seem a issue, and the internet works fine with pings and the rest of it outside of nwn.

I connect to other games on gamespy just fine. I can only assume it's some confusion between nwn master server and my own wireless router.
