QuoteAs for letters/flyers, honestly, i'm amazed they exist: any armsman should pick them up, pretend hiring the thug, then have him hanged.
Providing the Armsmen is sneaky enough to patrol the kind of backalleys those are posted in, in plainclothes. Or has sources.

On that note though, I had a CG vigilante who did that trick once. Arranged a meeting, confirmed the target and price.... then had the assassin HPed, subbed him, explained why he was scum, killed him and stole all his stuff.

Back on the original topic though, if you're trying to be opportunistic, a hit and run Dispel->PHK/Fear->Icestorm/whatever as soon as you get the chance is the way to go. The trouble with trying to do a cool attack with RP is you take a much bigger risk that you fail to sub/kill/scare off everyone else around.

You're better to set up a trap, rather than follow the PC, waiting for a shot. That way you've got time for your villainous monoluge or whatever.  You could lure them into the wilds on false pretences. You could listen for the PC's sendings and ready a group to attack them as soon as you know the victim is heading for a quest where they can be jumped. If they're making a sending to gather any PCs turning up, they won't have the same backup as if they're with buddies. You could even ask a DM to let you INTO the quest to pick off someone at the back.

If you don't want to pay for an assassin, convince someone to do it free, or cheap! Find someone else who's an enemy of your target, and drop hints that if they were to arrange a "disappearance", they might get help. Potions, buffs, scrolls, a favour later, an alibi...
While I was playing Ahmed, I had an offer of 50% of the bounty on Makumbo and Dakarai if I'd buffed up another PC to kill them once she'd found them. Be creative.
