This is a damn good idea.

It could also have the opposite effect. Some may not ever make a journal, ever! If on their death somebody is going to be able to snatch it and use the info within against my allies. Because of course who’s hands would this journal fall into except (90% of the time) the guy that killed me hands.

Nope, sorry, never been a big fan of forum journals and letters in the first place, don’t see the logic in this, seriously doubt I would ever bother using it.

That's only considering the PvP perspective though, nogar.  Finding/dropping a researcher's, explorer's, or writer's journal is pretty much a win-win situation for everyone.

A very short story about an IG journal that assisted creating new RP opportunities:

Kepler Szul chased around a Banite for four months, because the Banite looted him on a gnoll quest, and just happened to take Kepler's (forum) journal (my character carried a scripted note marked 'Kepler's Journal - ooc: if found you may read the forum journal') as well. Now I could have gone nuts over the looting - instead, I went nuts over getting the journal back. The theft lead to some amazing RP for me.

About a year later, Cyrus Doors was apparently in possession of it (or so he claimed - I couldnt figure out who was bluffing who), and parts of it were being posted on the Lower Sanc market boards - IC sensitive stuff.  I later figured out the journal was being 'marketed' by a badass assassin (Winston Martin). How I never got hit I'll never know.

Exile and Johannes - implement the IG journal system you have in mind please. :D  Trial it.

Yes, Kepler Szul's journal is a excellent example of how amazing RP can formulate from just a journal. I'd like to see the journal system implemented.
