Magic weapon on gloves

With some sets of gloves the spell magic weapon adds 1 bludge damage and 1 AB but with others it only adds 1 AB. I think this is a result of some gloves already having damage applied to them; however, most gloves have piercing and slashing damage added to them which I would think is like that to avoid it canceling out the damage bonus of magic weapon.

Example:

Embalming gloves which have no damage bonus receive +1 AB and +1 bludge damage upon magic weapon cast.

Claws of the Bogbeast which have 1 slashing and 1 piercing damage bonus only receive the +1 AB from magic weapon.  I would think this is a bug since magic weapon should add +1 damage to the specific damage type of the weapon/gauntlet.

This isn't a damage-stacking issue, since the damage types are different. It seems like this behaviour was intentionally scripted.

+1 ab to these gloves is already amazing.

Harass johannes since he developed this script.

Yeah that makes sense Scotty, I just thought I would make a report anyhow.

Thanks

If you had a sword with +1 slashing damage, and cast magic weapon on it, I think the effect would only be +1 ab. So I'd say it's intentional and balanced.

The reason for that is because the sword itself is a slashing weapon. However, if you have the common short sword being spawned in loot these days with +1 slashing damage, you will receive +1 piercing damage upon casting magic weapon. This is because the damage type of the short sword is piercing.

So if you had a +1 piercing damage longsword, you would receive +1 slashing and +1 AB on the sword after magic weapon is cast.
