Wood Elf, Ranger, Multi Class Penalty

As far as I understood, wood elves have ranger as favored class. Well, I am playing a Wood Elf, and most of his levels are of ranger, with one single level in another class. I am having XP penalty from multi class (discovered it with exploration XP, in a case I should get 20 and got only 16). I believe it is a bug. Or is it supposed to be this way?

SkillFocuspwn

The DMs have no way of changing favoured class! It's simply an idealist sort of thing saying that, right now.

Or, as far as I'm aware that's the case.

ExileStrife

I think this is actually possible with letoscript, just like changing racial types.  Snoteye!

It's more like the "members of RACE are usually CLASS" descriptions we get in editions of D&D that don't have multiclass penalties (or don't even have multiclassing at all).

It's not possible to change this without creating new races. Every race has a single "FavoredClass" column in racialtype.2da. Elves have wizard. We could make an entirely new race* called "Wood Elf," but items restricted to regular Elves wouldn't be usable by Wood Elf, Favored Enemy: Elf wouldn't work against Wood Elves, and other such problems, since NWN1 doesn't have a built-in subrace system. The character's favored class is not saved in their character file, and thus LetoScript doesn't have anything to re-write.

* Also, a new race would appear as "badstrref" to anyone without the override.

Sounds like a very complicated issue. Maybe finding a way to manually and systematically give 20% XP to the PC, at the beginning  of the level that would have the penalty... Or an OOC wand that adjusts the XP once each level ... Just ideas ... Either way, I would like to have it fixed, it feels a bit bad receiving less XP then I should receive.

Another suggestion, on this 'new races' option, would be creating the new race, in this case called 'wood elf', then adding to it the race subtype 'elf', so, the race would include the custom stats plus considered a regular elf in matters of restricted items, FE, etc. Again, if it's ever possible ...

9lives

TL;DR, it's not (feasibly) possible without a lot of work. Suck it up, yo.

ScottyB

It's worse than ninelives says, as even after a ridiculous amount of work, no system would be accurate. And we try not to half-ass things around here.
