Less magic stuff for the non-magic people

One of the things i don't like about EFU:A is the fact when it comes to items, other than crafted wands, most offensive spellcasting trinkets are usable by anyone, when it should be the wizards, sorcerers, clerics, druids, bards and maybe rangers and paladins the ones using it.

I simply suggest restricting items that cast thigns as (Fear (5) single use) to spellcasting classes, so the spellcasters can look a bit more magical.

Assuming we're talking about dungeon drops, the majority of them should be UMDable by "average" level rogues that have maxed out their UMD skill. >,>

That is why the UMD skill exists for, so no conplain there. I hate when fighters get to cast spells though.

I guess you are delighted with that Acid Arrow charges banded mail then? :P. Really though, I do find it strange that so far as class restricted and especially "Do Not UMD This Shit" gear goes, so much of it is geared towards Rangers, Barbs and Druids (especially pure rangers or druids), and most arcane/divine spell devices are foolproof and unrestricted.

Of the stuff that is restricted, I recall the Arcanist Ring most because all my UMDers have loved those things for being cheaper to buy and less of a gamble to fire than a dispel wand.

I wouldn't say that the odd single use device should be class limited. Those things take up space and weight for one shot.
However,  there should be the odd thing restricted to pure caster classes in the same way as for example certain Ranger shoploot. Also, some class restricted, massive UMD score items with 5 uses Fireball, Dispel Magic etc would give caster classes unique consumables. There's actually a good deal of really cool stuff for Bards in the way of restricted consumables, but little for Sorcs, Wizards or Clerics.

Finally, Scruffy, with the exception of wands and scrolls, UMD can would be way too good if you could use it on consumables like all the Bard devices easily. The reason being that with wands or scrolls you have to roll a UMD check vs the DC every time, and can fail, but with items that carry charges, you just have to have your UMD score higher than a fixed DC. That's fine for equipped items with continual bonuses, but for firing charges there's no element of risk.

We're not going to re-haul +3000 loot drops at this point in time.
