Death Ward Potions

Death Ward is a rather difficult spell to get casted on oneself in the module, while death effects are somewhat more achievable and present irregardless. Given that this spell really doesn't do anything besides saving the rare character who has not only the foresight to cast it, but even the ability to do so, from instantly dying, I do not believe making Death Ward potions an uncommon item in the module would be terribly unbalancing.

Death ward potions are in fact available on certain vendors.

I know of one multi-charge class-restricted Deathward item from a 2-5, several places selling deathward potions and at least three quests that drop them. They are already achievable if you're the sort of person who goes round picking fights with L9 Wizards, Clerics or Druids. Of course they are actually an uncommon item on those quests, so you just haven't found any yet Semli.  The one reason I'd say most people would want them is a certain mid level range quest that happens to have a death effect in it.

Mort

Indeed. What we are missing are more death spells.

I'd like to see a quest with bodaks. I remember certian dungeon on another PW where you had to hurry of the death ward potions would be gone, otherwise you'd be dead by bodaks.

Egon the Monkey

That exists. And I'd like to see it labeled IC BEWARE OF THE BODAK on the outside with some sort of clue, because TBH nobody who knows about that quest *won't* metagame "oh no deathspells". If you don't have deathward items or a cleric who's prepped it, you'll be running out the QA every time. There is a clue about death effects yes, but inside the quest.

But you can't rest inside the quest.

I don't like to metagame such things either, but it's stupid. I won't risk not to "metagame" and have my cleric go without any death wards so my whole party and i die in the first encounter.

To solve this you could have an area before entering the SQA area, where you would face enemies that would logically be inside the quest (like emoting them comming out of the SQA transition) but were you could rest using a campfire and bedroll.

Or, have a chest full of death guard trinkets/potions just after the first enocunter in the area.

Am I missing something? I believe he wants the current drops to be -less-.

Mort

There are plenty of clues for that quest if you know how to look for them.

Dont metagame.
