I know there's a way to take away people's packs without killing them. Recently this would have been extremely helpfull to my character, but the pvp tool did not seem to have the option.... I imagine one would use the "/c whatever" to set your damage like this.
 
I try to avoid killing other characters prematurely, but every now and then I'll have to oblige in taking -some- things in their pack to make up for my own lost consumables.
 
I'm sure it's somewhere in the announcement thread, I'm just in a hurry and too lazy to find it.

Just bonk the guy enough until his pack drops, or use /c yank_pack (or something very close to it). You can't use subdual to kill unless you really go at it.

(As in spend about 2-3 minutes hitting the guy)

Hit them until you see "subdued", for the next few seconds you can use the /c yank_pack to take the entire contents of their pack into a bag beside them.
