I always find offensive caster PCs fun and awesome, but they really lack something in the longer quests and have to resort to "BUFFS PLZ".

I would love to see SF and GSF Evocation increasing the damage dealt by the spells FLame Weapon and Darkfire, just 1 point for SF, and another extra for GSF, that stacks up and makes a specialised evoker able to demonstrate a bit more FIREpower than the average mage. I didn't suggest it before, but with the effectiveness of Flame Wep and Darkfire somewhat reduced recently, it would be an interesting addition.

Luke Danger

I'm in agreement, actually. It would make sense for offensive specialists to be able to create better offense for their allies, would it not? I think that this is reasonable, 1 or 2 more damage won't do much in the short run, but it can make a effect in the long run, which is why Egon is suggesting this.

Mort

The premise to your topic is that Offensive Mage are fun, and not like to be a buffbot.

But your suggestion is to make them being even more powerful buffbots.

Besides, it's impossible, without being a major PITA. There are set values of damage that you can add to weapons temporarily and 1d4 + x isn't one of them.

Thomas_Not_very_wise

Against on the basis that offensive mages will become the new Fighter/rogue.

Snoteye

Evocation is one of the strongest schools by themselves already.

Drakill Tannan

Yea.. for 19% of the quest anyway.

I agree with mort. I always thought 1d4 + 1/caster level was imbalanced, considering it's a level 2 spell. +2 will not change it much, but maybe keeping it at 1d4 will make offensive mages more apreciated than just buffers that watch bored as the fighters do all the fighting. Maybe i'll make another mage if they do.

Maybe gaving SF evocation could do the following.

Level 3, 1d4
level 6: 1d8
Level 8: 1d10

GSF Evocation will do:
Level 3: 1d6
level 6: 1d8
Level 9: 1d12

ExileStrife

It should have really stopped at Snoteye's comment.  Evocation is one of the strongest GSF classes already since practically every spell benefits from the DC boost.  The amount of damage you get from Flame Weapon and Darkfire is already ludicrous and it would be sick to get even more.

OKay, Lock thread plz.
