I thought it would be cool if it could be introduced that when giving your name for citizenship papers that you could lie about your name and have it put on your papers, like a type option as you would with a sending.

If thats possible which i'm pretty certain it is, would be a nice little addition for the shady types.

Money's Dew

I would definately agree full on. Double-lives.

TheMacPanther

Maybe add a easy/moderate bluff check for the option to work.

12 Hatch

Could be an interesting pure rogue perk!

Levels six and up or so, perhaps, and some coin for a bribe.

Anonymous Bosch

Lying about your name to someone you have never met isn't exactly convincing someone day is night.

I can't even imagine saying a way of introducing yourself to Jaenette, who has heard some bloody ludicrous names over the years, that would cause her to do anything other than raise an eyebrow.

Should be a standard option, imo.  Very, very low bluff dc if a bluff roll there must be.

Lenthis

DC:2
If you fail, you name is instantly put down as "Bob Portal-Rat"

Drakill Tannan

Lenthis has a point. Janete doesn't know you, how would she realize you are giving a fake name? Your average person would be able to pull that flawlessly.

Anonymous Bosch

Umm... My name is [scratches head fiercely, sneezes twice] Umm... It's... Desk... Deskpaper Penman. Yeah.

Random_White_Guy

I disagree.

There's great black market potential for giving out ziggurat stones and papers to people criminal underworld style. Use or buy or steal existing ones for great victory.

I used to collect dead pcs identification on one of my old pcs, after a few weeks they were definitely passable. Then again, so few people ever checked and went off the fact that people are easy to recognize >_> it wasn't much use. But I prefer this meathod over the suggested one because you involve other people in your collecting of their papers. Whether by chance someone recognizing it, or by getting the other person involved directly.

Actually, now that I think about it, There might be something gained by not changing it at all. Considering that most people who go by fake names, go by them forever, they should have the fake name over their head anyway -.-

Then again, I really don't think this matters either way.

Anonymous Bosch

Well, you can only register one fake name with Jaenette.  It doesn't really remove the need for those who want multiple identities to find other means of getting papers.  It's just flavour, and imo much better than being forced to say your real name through restricted dialogue.

Ebok

You can get any number of names, because each time you don't have one in your inventory, you're prompted with getting another. Which this suggestion would then allow you to make a new fake one. Just saying.

Actually, I just thought of something this would prevent. You can type in any fake name, even that of a well known character. This ability allows you to get papers and sending totems of anyone, and they are presently used ( at least they have been ) as trophies pieces.

If you had one name locked down, a Stygian for example couldn't take the man with the Papers reading Duke Trenada to get real one forged. Or after the jail time, the offender could never choose another name.

Talir

Not liking having this option for anyone. If someone wants to do this sort of stuff, feel free to tell me about it.

Egon the Monkey

Not good for just a pure rogue. It's getting to the point where any devious suggestion is immediately followed by PURE ROGUE! Bards have Bluff as a class skill too.

If you want to lie about your name, surely the obvious thing to do is name your PC by his alias. Your PC's real name's "Alex Smith" but you name him "Bob Jones" on creation. Then, if you want to deal with officialdom you use the Citizen Papers in the "fake" name of "Bob Jones". For anything you might want to deny you use his real name, which just happens not to be the one floating above his head in OOC blue letters.

Porkolt

Doesn't this all boil down to the whole discussion about wether a PC permanently using an alias should actually name his PC by that alias rather than his real name?
