Enable PC tracking with "/c setally" command

I'm one of the people who prefers the new non-party system, but one thing that really bugs the crap out of me is that it is now virtually impossible to travel as a group while in stealth mode.

Unless there is some way to enable map pins for PCs on an individual basis (which would be awesome, really), the only simple solution to this problem that occurs to me is to enable PC tracking, but only for PCs you have given specific permission to track you with the setally command.

I've given this a few days' worth of thought, and if there's a way to exploit this, I can't come up with it.

YES!!!

Please enable this.  I am almost entirely used to the new system, the one thing that is a serious weakness is traveling as a group in stealth.  The reasons for being unable to do so are limits of the game engine, not something that adds to game play.  This would help to improve that limitation markedly.

Even though it is exploitable. I still think the positives FAR outweigh the negatives.

ExileStrife

It's not really possible.  It would let anyone basically circumvent the no-party stuff.

I do want to point out that a group of people moving "in stealth" is supposed to be incredibly challenging and difficult to do.  Those who come up with clever IC systems for moving around effectively while stealthed are rewarded with the simple advantage of moving together as a singular stealthy unit.

Doesn't /c follow so-and-so work?

IxTheSpeedy

Eh, ExileStrife, I don't agree.  I think the limits of the gaming engine are what make it so difficult.  In reality, and yes i realize EFU isn't reality..., a group of stealthed individuals would be able to be stealthy togethor, moving as a unit.  As it is though, this just can't happen.  If your hide/MS is high enough, people can't even see you if you are standing directly in front of them.  This is totally part of the engine and is quite unrealistic (though quite fun to do...)

I love that EFU has made it harder to play a stealth character, which makes it that much more rewarding to be able to do so.

I think making it just a hair easier would be nice.  Honestly, it took me a good twenty minutes to find someone yesterday...  That's just a pain in the neck.

No. That command was removed more than a year ago, because it was extremely exploitable.

Letsplayforfun

So now people want to be able to hide in plain sight, but only when it suits them? Hum...

If you want your party to see you, don't hide.

If everyone is a stealther, you've got a group of predators moving, and tough luck if you can't spot your pals.

If you want to track a PC try to get a DM?

Gwydion

As an invizastealther, I've noticed this as well.

It's a good idea, but there is an easier RP way to deal with this as well that I've used IC.

SOMEONE takes charge and says, "meet at the camp {next rock, first bridge} etc"  Then when you get there, everyone crowds around the point and the next whispered command is issued.  Or unstealths, or whatever.

It forces a more exact understanding of the physical layout of the area, and more communciation and RP.

The problem is when people don't specify an exact location to rendezvous, which then breeds confusion and frustration.

IxTheSpeedy

Yeah that works, I was just thinking that a group of rangers should be able to move better than they do.  No worries.

As Ix was witness to, however, not everyone's got a good grasp of direction =P
