Palemaster Animation

So, after achieving the ability and playing with it, I was informed that something I thought possible was wrong.

Corpse items (Goblin, "Poorly preserved corpse", etc), Does not infact work with the ability gained by the PRC.

If there is any way to have it work differently, I would suggest:
 
1) like Conjuration, where a "Necromantic focus" can adjust what item is used. Click the focus upon a corpse item, use the animate undead spell like feat, and then that thing is summoned.

Or, if not possible,

2) Tweak the animate dead summon. If I'm forced to have one summon, it would be appreciated if it wasn't a rather pathetically weak creature like it is. Its embarrassingly poor.

I think RwG's palemaster is already too overpowered. Please do not give him massive armies of unstoppable undead zombies, because he'll just use them to rush through quests to get to L10 as soon as possible.

Are you talking about the level 2 ability of animate dead, or the level 4 ability of summon undead?

Animate dead has been a terrible spell for as long as I can remember.

Summon undead was modified to be a custom Efu summon, which is quite powerful.

Palemaster undead summons get good later on.

With the amount of animate dead charged loot around, I'm not sure it's worth it to spend the time to fix this particular ability (I agree it sucks you can't target anything with it)

Actually I think it's a pretty simple 2DA edit, both client and serverside would need it however. There might be a quick nwscript edit, but this really shouldn't take very long at all for a DM who has the module and is making changes anyways. I'll probably post the line chaanges you need to make in the 2DA later tonight!
