I agree.

When playing EfU, remember the most important thing of all:

Everything bad is YOUR FAULT.

I will be streaming a special super-interactive "goblude" related to this event later today (at roughly 7pm GMT) so you can have a little insight into the DM world, and also maybe send some pointers toward what you might like to see on stream.  More details will be announced later.

Announcements / Prelude: Lower Cultists - Sunday
October 02, 2015, 05:27:01 PM
I'd like to run a somewhat hardcore prelude for anyone interested in involving themselves as a lower 'cultist' PC.

If you want to get involved, send an application in the usual manner - perks will include: starting at a higher level with better equipment and an access to an already ongoing metaplot.

Planning to run this on Sunday at some point, no particular time in mind, will see how many people are interested.  Shoot me a PM if you want any more details.

Quote from: Kotenku;n640544When solo'd, the Malfunctioning lightstone machine quest in the House of Knowledge is too easy for combat PCs and too hard for non-combat PCs. Toning down the spawn rate, decreasing the spawn HP and damage would help a lot here.

Last I checked, the four doors on the upper tier of the House of Knowledge don't lead anywhere, when they used to go to a lightstone chamber, a theatre, a hall of music, and a hall of art.

The four doors in the House of Knowledge actually do lead to four places!

It's just a peculiar quirk of the hak I am afraid, you don't 'click' on the doors you just walk through into the areas, if you know what I mean.  But I agree it does at first appear that you can't go into any other area.

It's balanced BECAUSE rogues sacrifice a lot to get so much stealth.

You can boost your hide and move silently to ridiculous levels using a couple of feats, and the perks are designed to make rogues more comparable with other classes stealth wise - but they should certainly lose some combat prowess to compensate, because it's actually a very strong class in a lot of ways, it's just that people don't really know how to build it as efficiently as they maybe could... (sneak attack is incredible.  You hit for a fireball worth of damage at level 7.)

I feel like if there's an issue at all it's that the other classes have been boosted too much and maybe should get nerfs, instead of potentially breaking another class - the rogue perks are really rather good.  Maybe making the ranger, druid and sorc bonuses scale better perhaps.

If I was going to buff rogues, it would be less along the stealth lines and more along the vs undead / sneak attack immune creatures somehow, because that has always been an unfair drawback to the class.

I'll just bin the script that ninelives had already worked 11 hours on on so he can get back to the Vrazdn loot tables.

Another satisfied customer, thanks Vlaid!

To quote "terrorism" being a word that has been in use for many ages is deliberately misleading and just because such a word was once used by the French government in response to the Revolutionaries doesn't make it any less unfortunate a term to use ingame.  The word now clearly has much more connection with the current usage in modern media. I don't blame anyone that finds it immersion breaking - it's a little 'close to the bone', as with so many modernism's that could theoretically find their way into EfU.

There are so many words to use that it seems insensate to pick this loaded, morally questionable expression to describe actions in our innocent crazy little world - there are arguments TO THIS DAY about the very -definition- of terrorism, and what the difference is between those considered terrorists and those considered more lawful insurgency/guerrilla groups that end up opposing radical governments.  Nelson Mandela may have been considered a "terrorist" once, but to call him that these days would seem insulting and churlish, would it not?

I realise that the word been used in DM announcements in the past; but I would suggest that actively calling oneself a "terrorist group" or trying to make an Elf-Qaeda sort of group is extremely poor taste at best.

Quote from: wundyweiss;420060Hey all

I never really got into NWN1 during its prime, and no doubt I missed a lot of unique / interesting content that was being pumped out, but of late I find myself delving into the internet to find modules that are considered 'good' in delivering a good story and keeping my interest as it goes along. I've played through shadowlord / dreamcatcher and thought they were alright, and I'm currently playing darkness over daggerford, which is decent.

I'd like to see what else I missed, so if you have that one well-remembered module at the back of your head, tell me about it. Also, I guess this could be a general NWN1 module talk thread too, for nostalgic purposes.

The single best module I ever played for NwN1 was called "Honor among Thieves".

Play it before you play anything else, if you like EfU you will like it.  It's "rogue only" but because of the stupid vanilla mechanics of NwN that's no bad thing - (LOL Isaacs missile storm) and if you invest in a few stealth feats you have everything you need to complete the game.

Quote from: Knight Of Pentacles;419738Some sort of tool that ports your corpse outside a Quest Area if your party is wiped.   There are periods where DMs aren't on for hours to clear your corpse and there are few larger motivation killers than having your play hours be stomped thin due to ooc circumstances.

There already is a tool for this.

It's called "respawn to mausoleum".

Edit:  I guess if you live outside Sanctuary that's a problem...

Ho hum.

Anyway, I'm not sure this is easy to script, it involves setting up waypoints at the start of every QA, implementing, sorting out a problem that won't affect most people because there normally IS a DM available, and -most- players are not exiles or exiled and could quite happily respawn to the mausoleum.  I am not cool with it anyway - death is the MOST -IC- issue there is in EFU.  It's not an OOC problem for anyone if you die, it's an IC problem.   Or should be.  It's just that we're so liberal with clearing corpses and we so rarely say no - but it's generally been a courtesy as opposed to a given that you'll get your corpse sorted out.

If you enjoy your PC, but have played it too long / want to move on to another concept/ have achieved all you can achieve, you can always ask for an 'ending' if you feel so inclined and if the DM's involved are feeling benevolent may even get to have one.

If you have played a heavy PvP concept or have had a bounty or whatever then yes, we'll expect you to stick to the character for longer - if only to give the playerbase a fair chance to 'get' you themselves - in which case you don't just log in and sit in the pyrimo or crone whatever, you should get out there and genuinely give them a chance.

But generally, yeah it's best to stick to one character.
