Truly memorable RP, very much enjoyed being part of Charisse's story.

Great times, sir. Thanks for hooking me into the Fount and also...saving the world and stuff :)

After over a year off from efu, I decided to create a character to dip my toes back in. Fate had different plans however, as my paladin of Ilmater quickly got swept up into The Fount and reconciliation with the death of her god. She became a devote believer in a prophecy she read about the Numinous Order and set out to instill a devotion in people to prepare for the coming of one god. Really good stuff.

Along the way she made a good deal of friends and enemies. I think my favorite part of playing Carmen was her repentance arc with Charisse. Really some very terrific role play involved. I also very much enjoyed letting people in on the secret, especially with some grandiose statement like she knew how to save the world and not being able to tell a lie, cause paladins. Karl, Sister Mary the adjudicator and reflector, our times together were too short but always enjoyable.

Paladins are tough, especially in EFU. I really enjoyed the challenge and have all the pcs out there to thank for the good times. Carmen is still out there somewhere, praying for your souls, so mind your p's and q's.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to say thank you all for understanding and I greatly appreciate those that reached out to me with kind words and sympathy. Things have been tough, but I do have friends and family who are there for me. I include this community among those I know I can rely upon for friendship and I hope you know the respect and empathy is very much reciprocated. I will still be on an extended break from the game, but I will return in time. Thank you again, have fun and don't burn down the server without me.

I want to heart to heart with you all a moment. In January of this year my brother passed away, and it pretty much destroyed my world. I created Amelia with the intention of escaping into a bit of fantasy and ignoring my crippling depression. The fact is that it helped a lot, and I want to thank everyone here for providing a great place to explore and vent some of my hopelessness.

The world is fucking shit. It's pointless and it ends in misery. Much like our characters really. We keeping running through the same hoops, clawing and gasping for just a little air. Every once in a blue moon something nice will happen, and we will forget our mortality. Some of the best memories of my life are in this stupid fucking game. I'm not sure whether to be thankful for that, or to break down at its absurdity.

I love you all dearly, but I need face myself in the mirror awhile. My beard is long, I don't recognize who I am. I need some time to figure that out before returning to my escape. Might be a few months, maybe longer. I'll drop by now and again to let you know I'm OK, even when it's clearly a lie. Stay awesome for now.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Lady Amelia Florent

So Amelia is dead. She never broke a law, always kept her word, was pleasant and kind to everyone she ever met. Her demons were decidedly inner, she wrestled with them in private. I never instigated pvp and did not FD anyone, even when there was clear reason to.

Amelia went well out of her way to help everyone, even her enemies who she saved on more then one occasion. They always repaid her in insults and attacks. She joined the civil service with the intention of trying to make the council. She didn't. Then she joined the warders, who ignored her. Then she joined Etorix, who gave her nothing. She had one piece of dm loot which was OK, but otherwise was ignored in every plot and every way, besides the occasional beating from a random player.

So, what a triumph for good when a bunch of strangers cornered her and wordlessly fd the fuck out of her. Hurrah. They put her out of her misery at last. Oh and I almost made lvl 10. Because that is important to no one. Fucking pointless bullshit.

Race: Gnome
Class: Hopeless Romantic
Algn: NG
Years played: Grizzled Veteran

Goals:
1. Communist (big C) utopia
2. Universal PC healthcare
3. Rent too damn high

Background: I have been the darling of efu since my most accomplished character D`Brickashaw Aerlson a Jamaican stink weed smoking sorcerer who wanted to join the Spellguard (I never did get a good explanation as to why he was denied!!!). My salt levels are extremely low and my lameness has achieved elite status. I don't just want to join the Baublium Lounge, I want to lead it. As the most respected player in efu history, I deserve to be put in charge of the dms really. I promise to be a benevolent ruler.

I hit 9 in the fugue the other day. Worst feeling ever. The truth is your lvl isn't actually that important if you are enjoying the character and having fun. It is the journey not the destination. I hope you come back! Florent would certainly raise you (as a zombie?).

I've always been a bit of a forums warrior because it is something I can do while at work any moment I have a little down time. I understand that is not the case for everyone, but it does allow you to develop interactions and relationship even as you may not be able to meet in person too often. Use of the forums is also a good way to make the best of the time you do have when you log in, by setting up RP beforehand, or events, or sermons, or whatever it is you want to do with your character. It also helps if you have a DM plot you are aiming to be a part of in character creation. While you may not be a major mover and shaker in these plots, when you log in to play it gives you the kind of focus and structure to make the most of your time. I know that when I have all the hours in the world to play, be it on vacation or whatever, I spend a lot of them looking for things to do. On the other hand, when my time is more limited, each time I log in I am trying to get a specific thing done. Playing a "background" character is also an option of course, but it is not the only option out there.

Consider these archetypes:

1. Preacher. Log in and give a public sermon about your god. Meet and greet people afterwards. Raise gold toward your church. Set up pilgrimages on the forums. Public postings about your god.

2. Adventurer. You love to quest, you love to be the best at questing, you have a crew and a goal- to quest. Form a mercenary "company". Hire a #1 to basically run things when you are not around. When you are around, go quest. Glob onto other people's hard work and DM events because you have XPs and a crew that will fight for gold.

3. Assassin. You kill people for money. When you have time to log in you are either killing people for money, or you are trying to get contracts to kill people for money. You keep to the shadows and out of the public eye, but it becomes known by clients to seek you out when they want someone dead.

These are just a few ideas, of literally millions. I would say the key is to make the most of the time you do have to play by focusing your goals and putting yourself in a position where other PCs do not rely on you, but do have reason to seek you out for this job or that. Hope that helps/

Suggestions / NPC's in Grotto Arena
March 03, 2017, 08:16:05 PM
So consider this a question/suggestion. Why are their NPC's in the grotto Arena? Do they serve the purpose of witnesses? Can they be removed so that when spell casters do battle they don't consistently end up getting shot or accidentally murdering a worker? I'm pretty sure each time an AoE hostiles one of these NPCs it leads to having to get a DM for a res etc. which is probably annoying for DM and PC alike. If they are there for a reason, can they somehow be put on subdue or in some other way be prevented from murder? Thanks!

Winning at PVP can be very difficult as a Watcher because you have a distinct capital disadvantage compared to most bandits who have filled their packs with potions from ransacked PCs. My advice is quite simple: Always have an "emergency" potion queue set up on your (crtl or shift) quickbar that you can just sequence through left to right for one PVP encounter. This way when you are attacked, you can immediately drink down the potions you need in the order you need them. As to that order, it depends a lot on your strengths of your character and your equipment and your goal in the fight.

As an example, I played an archer in the watchers, not the best PVP build, but I slotted potions in an order that would help me (hopefully) outlast aggression as opposed to win it. In other words, I would do my best to turn into a tank and become such a hassle to bring down that my opponent might panic or otherwise give up and flee. Then I would NEVER chase!!! The encounters I won were the ones where I had allies, and the rest I was looking for a draw. My emergency queue looked something like this Haste-Invis-Shielding-Blur-Grace-Endurance-Elements-Displacement-Death Armor. Total investment to get these potions under 1k. You also have to fight the urge to "save" your potions. I would drink these down in every PVP encounter and during many PVDM encounters as well.

As a final note I will say that it also helps to have a secret weapon. This requires finding a single use item, or getting one from an alchemist that can absolutely end the fight with a little luck. Here is where those hold person single use gloves shine or that fear item, or missile storm, or ice storm etc. If you have an item that can stun or dish out a ton of unexpected dmg against your opponent, you have a good chance of making them panic or killing them outright.
