I met my first Dr. Dragon PC.

It was a dwarf that wanted to be sure we knew that dwarves were badass and among badass dwarves he was a badass and of course if we wanted to be badass we would need his badassed badassery to ensure we would defeat the badasses our badass selves were going to outbadass..

It was badass.

The feat is thematically fine.  If you are paralyzed by a successful /DEATH ATTACK/ of an Assassin, you are effectively 'out of the fight'... that your friends can prevail and keep you from dying out right is fortunate.

Is it potentially annoying in a quest when the assassin is immediately killed and your buddies have to stand around you scratching their asses while they wait a few minutes for you to recover?

Sure.

Or you could figure out some way to creatively RP why your companion (who has probably been magically healed) isn't able to move just yet.  Perhaps in a state of shock that takes a moment longer to clear... it was a grievous wound, after all.

No.

"The Watchers are supposed to be a trained and relatively competent force."

If you are relatively competent, you can app for an Officer Position.

That there can be incompetent and bumbling Watchers is by design.

::[ Nightal 26th : Year 161 : 1383 DR ]::

The Citizenry of Sanctuary are abuzz with tales of epic battles and dark magics, with the ultimate culling of the so called 'Flesh Forge' cultists at the hands of the 'Tempering' and their allies.  The disgusting and freakish body of one of the cult leaders, a green skinned , winged demon beast called Jovesque, was paraded through the square before being disposed of in fire.

With the loss of the cultists, many believe that the time to strike the heart of the cult, their demon-loving wizard, is now, and rumors persist of a planned raid to end the cult once and for all and perhaps save whatever Citizens may still live within their clutches.

::[ Nightal 24th : Year 161 : 1383 DR ]::

The terror experienced by Lower was inconceivably brought to Upper when the Cult of the Flesh Forge, apparently using rings stolen in past days, infiltrated into the Public Housing Vault and spirited away over twenty poor individuals, including two Watchers and an Auxiliary Engineer.  The daring raid was performed quickly, with over half a dozen cultists, half-orcs and humans and their demon winged leader at the fore, rushing through the streets.

Rallying quickly, it is said that Hamish of the Hounds offered to lend his aid and Spellguard Doatelu led a force to where Mari Galefist and Wayfinder-Lieutenant Coppertop knew the Cultists had holed up.  There, it is said they faced several demons summoned by the Cults wizard, a peerless infernal conjurer.  The survivors reported that a massive demon standing as tall as two men strode forth to do battle and was only brought down by the combined might of some of Sanctuary's greatest wizards and warriors.

All was for naught when they discovered the lair had been deserted, the demon guards a ruse to buy the Cult time to make off with their victims.

In the aftermath, many are demanding to know how the Cult had gained so many rings and if a Hero might be able to stop the Cult before they strike again.

There is no 'Anti-FD' Rant.  Also, not sure where 'Communism' (as a political ideology) comes into this.  But, you are the Doc.

Your first 'counterpoint' doesn't actually… counter my point.  It just adds to it by saying that this consideration might come from both sides.

Your second counterpoint totally misses the fact that the quote instructs you to assume that the character in question is an important one in the book and not just a nameless, throwaway person placed there solely for the point of being killed by the protagonist or otherwise major character.

As for your five points, I really only see 1:

"Ruthlessly FD all DrD PCs upon first encounter or the communists will win."

I advise all players to take the Doc's advice.

It's relevant in that the current implementation is actually a sort of compromise from how it is in PnP to the video game… so pushing it even further from PnP may not be desirable.

I agree that if you train in using a kusari-gama, no matter how badass you are with it, if you've never picked up a dagger, your dagger skills are going to be shitty (relative to your kusari-gama skills).

I don't think adding the ability to use weapons you haven't used the feat (either coming with your class or taking it at the cost of a feat selection) is necessary or representative of fixing some sort of legitimate IC oversight.

I do think it's dumb that as a non-trained individual you can't even pick up a weapon (any fool can hold a spear and shove it point-end towards something he wants to stab with it, would be cool if you could use non-proficient weapons at a penalty)… but that's the way the game is.

because it's:

A: More intensive to add than realized, relative to other things our technically minded team members would like to be working on

and

B: Wanting to keep these options in DM hand for more flavorful options when rewarding players…

This will not likely happen.

This does not affect EfU, for those who have those concerns.  We no longer connect to EfU through gamespy.
