Jeez.  You could have just private messaged me, Lado.  Sheesh!  Talk about airing your dirty laundry.

All kidding aside I have done the whole 'Let's do X quest' thing in a pm, the rest I'm not guilty of and I actually abhorr it.  I know Mort would personally fry everyone's bollocks in hot butter for it(inb4 deep frying/scottish Lado) but is it really that bad if we are practiced roleplayers and simply roleplay the interaction properly?

To be honest, I think I only do it when I know I am not with a stranger too.  It's definitely stale as hell rp.  I never ever organise a quest ooc in IRC nor by private messages but you've got to wonder...

Is IRC the real culprit of that behaviour?

(All the rest of what Lado mentioned shouldn't even have to be mentioned frankly and I'd be pissed too if I was him.  )

MaimedGod said something very succint!

"MaimedGod" said something along the lines of an area of "Neutral ground", where the players could meet up to roleplay without ever having to worry about being ganked.

This just plum makes sense to me!  Even the gods in Faerun do it! In a plane of existence known as "Cynosure" Here's a description:

QuoteAlso known as the Hall of Meeting, Cynosure is the only truly neutral ground among the planes. Unclaimed by any deity and uninhabited by any native race, Cynosure is nothing more than a small demiplane in the shape of a huge, majestic hall, adorned with soaring pillars and open to a star-filled sky. Surrounding the hall are portals leading to every divine realm in Toril's cosmology. This plane is the place where the gods come to meet when some pressing business demands a degree of communication among them. Whether the meeting involves two deities hoping to cement an alliance or the whole Faerûnian pantheon, Cynosure is a safe meeting place.

Rest in peace

You were the consumate paladin.  I'm not talking about any of your characters.  You were a the epitomy of good.

I hope your family know that we travelled across the Underdark together, traded the spoils of our conquered enemies in the market, wrangled our way through treacherous jungles where even the plant life tried to kill us, debated the philosophies of our god, we faced the walking dead and won, we hid in a mystical mist from an evil witch and we even shared drinks in the tavern.

We fought dragons together.

I used to play on Narfell, CoA and city of Splendours.  Narfell was elitist as hell, and CoA was too.  you used to have "Tokens" for good roleplay, but they were entirely based on OOC arrangements between cliques who would take turns nominating one another, and collecting rewards ig.

I spent three years playing CoA.  I saw a DM possess a dog.  Once.  It was very much a DM's playground with every other player as ambience... Like a bloody lava lamp or something.

CoA nowadays is VERY different I am told by many of the players there, from its tyrannical days and corruption through tokens, though it is forever stained for me personally as a result.  By all means though, check it out for gods sake, if you haven't. already  Valo definately nailed it.  All the players there are pro roleplayers, and we all used to play there and forged many great memories questing together there.  You can do far worse than CoA.

I'm talking about Kinky Kingdoms.

You know what I mean.  Yes.  You.  With the nude hak.

Off-topic Discussion / *The portal dive*

*The portal dive*

My idea for a campaign is genius.  The idea is a wizards shop which sells your goods.  The wizard has some kind of ability or his shop is located somewhere special or whatever, whereby portals can be opened to any plane.  any time.  any place.

The wizard, being smart and wizardly, doesn't jump in some portal willy nilly himself.- But hires groups of adventurers to do so.

That's where the party comes in.  The wizard opens a portal to say "Mechanus" and explains what reagent he needs.  Fun then ensues, and a time limit on when the portal closes begins the moment they enter.  Only those who entered through the portal, can return back through it, though anything they bring with them can also travel through the portal in a special "magic bag".

The magic bag forces the player to limit what they can bring back to a few select items, or the wizards reagents.

I could help out with some of the scripting if you decide to use NWN as a platform, or maybe you would prefer to use GoogleD20, ask Jaydemoon about it (requires a webcam and mic)

Nwtoolset

NWN comes with the toolset as standard.  The file is here, run it:

"NWN>nwtoolset.exe"

NWN is your default NWN directory.

Its pretty unpolished yep

Yeah, there's definately something to it.  There's potential.  As for the artistic slant, I'm a software programmer/computer network engineer-  I'm DEFINATELY not an artist.

This was my first attempt.  My latest is better, with music and less jerky.  But anyway, getting it working in game is just a stylistic thing, but the problem is people can just open the files in their media player once they have downloaded them.

I'm here if video needs made, give me and a good sketch artist with a story board, and i'll do the animation and compression and stuff like that.

P.S) If you ever want vid, ScottyB, you do the story boards! Find me a sketch artist- I'll film/animate and edit and compress the video.

It was a bit slow huh

Yeah, I suppose it was a bit slow and artistic.  Thanks for the kudos on me making the video though.  Is it really that bad?  I might have kinda lazer vision on, because I spent so long making it.

Suggestions / Cheers!

Cheers!

Yeah, I looked into the video thing, but it was the simplest thing which eluded me all along.  Players need to not be in game to play the video.  They can simply open up VLC or whatever media player- and view them outside the game! LOL

Making the videos wasn't a problem for me, and neither was the file size, they were approximately 1 meg per minute. like you said- nor getting it to work inside NWN, I found that very easy, its a single function inside the toolset (Although I did spend hours tweaking the compression rates).

The problem was people just viewing them, I considered encryption systems to make them only viewable inside NWN, but that is a crazy amount of effort to go into just for some stylish content thats all about style.

What I've decided to do instead, is make versions of the lightstone conversations and put them on youtube.  None of the 'special' light stones mind you, just the generic ones.  it should be a stylish way to view the content should anyone desire to do so.  It will take me a wee while to do them all, particularily as I am trying to get a kobold player faction off the ground at the minute.

P.S: My voice actor shall remain anonymous until they desire otherwise, I'd like to thank them for their contribution all the same and for all the fun roleplay we have in game.

General Discussion / Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! First thing- Have you got an IRC client?  Its the kind of universal chat room software.  ( I use mIRC myself) To join the escape from uncertainty chat room-

Join the 'DarkMyst' server.  And then join the chat room #efu.

Once you've done that you've got everything you'll ever need. just ask questions in there mate, you'll get a much quicker answer than in the forums.

Which server did you used to play on incidentally? I'm an ex Narfell and City of Arabel player.

*bump*

I'm bumping this, because I think I'd pay 100 coins for a bundle of healing herbs.  It seems like the kind of thing you should be able to get.  I tried making them in herbalism and the DC was 88 with Decent shards- which is pretty crazy- so thats why you don't see them about anymore, we simply aren't crafting them.

Someone told me they could make them on a DC 5, but I think they were blowing smoke up my ass. Anyway, I agree with this! Let us buy the herbs!
