Dear Sister Amelie of the Sisterhood of the Sibylline Vine,

I am writing to you to ask for your help on an art project I am currently working on: a compendium of an poet who has gone by the name of Elle. Other then numerous pages of their written works, I know very little about them.

The only two tidbits of information of note I was able to uncover is that they were possibly a Balladeer or Student of the Lost Hearth and that you might be the last living person to have known them personally. If you have any insights on Elle, as a person or poet, I would be incredibly grateful if you would share them with me.

Considering that you are exiled and no longer a citizen or civilian of Ephia's Well, I was initially of the thought that whatever agreement was made between us was null and void. Furthermore, there is a portion of the Well's Penal Code (statute 21) that could potentially bar me from associating with you.

However, after careful review of the laws it has been deemed that fulfilling our agreement would not unduly risk my prosecution.

A deal is a deal. You will have your card. It shall be finished and delivered within one or two days.

Dear Miss Miranda Marlin,

Enclosed is the cover and first page of the work you commissioned from me. I have drafts of various other pages in various other stages and I anticipate the complete work will be finished by the four weeks estimate I originally provided you.

As I work on these early pages, however, I have come to realize that the transition from cover to first page is quite discordant. I think an introduction or foreword page would resolve that issue and I would like to give you the honour of writing it if you are interested in doing so.

Dear Kazem,

In the span of a few days, a friend of mine was murdered, mourned, and cremated.

I have been enduring and handling it better than others, but that is likely because I did not even realize Alejandro Benjazar was my friend until other people asked me how I was coping with the loss.

As I thought about how others perceived my relationship with Mister Benjazar, I came to realize that even though our relationship was work-based at first, that does not mean one cannot make friends in work.

And, indeed, I had confided a great deal in Mister Benjazar. Or at least planned to. I asked him about the Cinquefoil Rose and the Balladeers. He could not answer in what little time he had so he promised when the chance arose, we would sit down for tea and he would tell me about his time with the Balladeers.

I won't be able to have that conversation and tea with him now. As I reflect on that fact, I realize how much I was looking forward to it.
