Bug Reports / Ash Magewand, Improved
May 24, 2022, 03:37:30 AM
A normal ash magewand has a disclaimer at the bottom of the description clarifying that it's not to be dual-wielded. An improved ash magewand, the upgraded form, has the description text of a default club in what I presume to be a bug, and so people will then dual wield it.

The junk merchant, Halfjack in Ring 98 - Pauper's Ponds - Interiors, only sells a single stack of mundane arrows per reset. I assume it's a bug, but if not, having him sell an unlimited amount similar to other merchants would be great! Alternatively, could have Winowna the Whittler sell them.

Bug Reports / Greater Shadow Conjuration, Web
May 21, 2022, 05:39:47 PM
So it looks like if someone fails a Reflex save against Greater Shadow Conjuration, Web's entangle effect, they are saddled with 50% decreased movement speed until they rest, like spike growth. This is without SF or GSF Conjuration or the like, only GSF Illusion. Kinda neat though.

Suggestions / Re: Spells Suggestions Thread
May 20, 2022, 01:14:27 PM
A suggestion for a lower level offensive spell that'll benefit from GSF Illusion, stolen in concept from Pathfinder, with the overarching idea of eroding a target's ability to disbelieve spells after the fact.  Could be neat attached to Shadow Conjuration's rarely used offensive subspells as well, with each missile of Magic Missile carrying the effect as a 4th level spell, and Web and Acid Arrow being usable 5th level versions that repeatedly tick. Usable for those with GSF Illusion, and I think thematic in that shadow Acid Arrow and shadow Web are applying "illusory poison", but appropriately not quite at 4th and 5th level spell tier on their own since SC/GSC are meant for flexibility.

For balance, I mostly compared to Poison, Phantasmal Killer and the big unreliability of double saves and mind-affecting in the mix basically discounting a spell down two tiers, like Finger of Death vs. Phantasmal Killer. The outlier of danger here is the nasty combo of more easily killing things with Feeblemind, so scaling wisdom poison and a different GSF effect maybe if that's an issue? But I do think they're solid as written below.

QuotePhantasmal Affliction
Spell level: sorcerer/wizard 2
Innate level: 2
School: illusion
Descriptor: mind-affecting, poison
Components: verbal, somatic
Range: medium (20 meters)
Area of effect: single
Duration: instant
Save: will and fortitude
Spell resistance: yes

The spellcaster afflicts a single creature with a debilitating poison, or rather convinces the target that they did. The target makes a Will save to disbelieve the spell. Failing that, the target must make a Fortitude save versus the Poison spell.

SF Illusion: DC on Fortitude save increased by an additional +2
GSF Illusion: On a failed Will save, regardless of Fortitude save, the target also suffers 1 point of Wisdom damage

QuoteMass Phantasmal Affliction

School: illusion
Descriptor: mind-affecting, poison
Components: verbal, somatic
Range: long (40 meters)
Area of effect: huge (6.67 meter radius)
Duration: instant
Save: will and fortitude
Spell resistance: yes

The spellcaster afflicts all enemy creatures in an area with a debilitating poison, or rather convinces the targets that they did. The targets make a Will save to disbelieve the spell. Failing that, the targets must make a Fortitude save versus the Poison spell.

Shadow Conjuration / Shades

Offensive subspells from Shadow Conjuration(4th level, magic missile), Greater Shadow Conjuration(5th level, acid arrow, web) and Shades(6th level, fireball, cone of cold and wall of fire) can also afflict targets with Phantasmal Affliction if the caster has GSF Illusion.

Suggestions / Shadow Conjuration
May 10, 2022, 02:16:19 PM
A few suggestions to make it feel a little better to use Shadow Conjuration's shadows, over something like Glass Doppelganger / Phantoms+Mislead. These are admittedly self-serving suggestions, as I'm using the spells regardless, but still.

-If you make a clone of yourself with Shadow Conjuration with the spell and not an item, let it carry over your full con score like Mislead/Phantoms does. It's often only a small difference at the lowest tier, but it's awkward to have a "greater" clone have less HP than "lesser" ones.
-I don't know if this can be changed, but the Summon Shadow subspell is ground targeted like a summoning spell, and creates a clone of whichever PC is closest to the cast location. This makes it very easy to make a clone of the wrong person.
-Add the same harmless darkness VFX that Phantoms has, on the area where you create the shadow. It'll look cool.
-A general power boost from GSF Illusion. The modifiers to the spell depending on your spell school or GSF are very cool and encourage neat builds, and illusion's existing perk is actually very useful and now my favorite part of the spell, but I'd love for it to also have a second, smaller and less niche boost for illusionists as well, since it feels odd that Transmuters get the all around best clones out of it. Currently, you can only have one shadow clone active, and it unsummons any summons and gets a fraction of base stats and no immunities, yet you can have as many Glass Doppelgangers at the same time as spell slots allow, alongside summons. I'd love if Shadow Clones could have a niche of being nearly as good as Glass statistically with GSF Illusion, when made of yourself, while still being weaker if made of other PCs and lacking Glass' tankiness... but even as is, just being allowed to have multiple, or a single clone with a very long duration as if fighting alongside your literal shadow, would be rad.

That said, I do recognize that the Shadow Conjuration spells also bring a degree of flexibility beyond the clone creation. But the 4th level spell version definitely feels lacking since the other spells it provides don't have the punch of GSC's unbreachable globe or Shades' stoneskin and explosions. And even GSC has a hard time comparing to Glass Doppelganger's ability to create multiple fully statted, stronger versions of your PC melee crusher friend, making it difficult to take GSC over Glass as an illusionist.

Bug Reports / Clones and Rapid Shot
May 10, 2022, 12:53:39 PM
The AI seems to struggle whenever it has the feat "Rapid Shot". If I tell a clone with Rapid Shot to attack via voice command, it doesn't listen all together. If I directly tell it to attack a target with the player tool, it will shoot for a while, then inevitably stop and stand there after toggling Rapid Shot either on or off.  All you really can do is tell them to repeatedly attack with the command player tool, but it requires a degree of micromanagement that's a bit frustrating if you have multiple, as they'll often stop after one flurry, toggle Rapid Shot on or off respectively, then stand there again. They'll even behave in this way when directly attacked.

If it really seems like something that can't be fixed properly, I'd welcome duplicates from Displacement, Shadow Conjuration and Glass Doppelganger just not having the feat at all.

Suggestions / Mislead/Phantoms Clone Dismissal
May 07, 2022, 03:39:40 PM
There is a bit of a minor issue with Mislead and Phantoms where you can't manually dismiss them, they don't vanish automatically when you're subdued, and the spells even keep running and generating more (comically collapsed on the ground) clones when you're subdued.

I'd love a chat command to destroy all of your own clones, and/or a player tool to destroy individual clones.

Suggestions / Mislead/Phantom Clone Feats
May 02, 2022, 05:24:27 PM
Quote* Mislead/Phantoms images are stripped of all feats except for armor and weapon proficiency, cleave, great cleave, weapon finesse

This seems very sensible to avoid odd abuse cases. But since in most cases these clones can only hit on a 20 anyhow, I'd love if Blindfight was on the list of feats okay to duplicate from the caster as well.  Point Blank Shot would be another self-serving addition I'd love to see, but even just Blindfight would be great.

Thank you.
